Chris Kirkland would love one minute's worth of action for England on Wednesday to end 12 years of waiting for a bold gamble to pay off.
It is well documented that when Kirkland was 13, dad Eddie placed a £100 bet on his son winning a senior England cap before turning 30.
If new England manager Steve McClaren turns to Kirkland at any stage of the friendly against Greece at Old Trafford, a six-man syndicate will scoop a £10,000 jackpot.
The Wigan goalkeeper is hoping McClaren will afford him his chance because, despite his dad's obvious best intentions, the wager has become the bane of Kirkland jnr's life.
"My dad never mentions it, but its brought up all the time by other people and that's annoying," said Kirkland, who joined Wigan on a six -month loan deal from Liverpool earlier this summer.
"Hopefully I can get it over and done with as soon as possible and then people can stop talking about it.
"If I'm involved on Wednesday then that will be great, if not then at least I'll have the consolation of knowing my family will all still be there."

Because he played last night his dad picked up a nice wad of money from the betting shop today.
