With a depleted bowling attack, that might be a good thing .

In recent years the pitch has improved towards the end of 4 day games rather than deteriorated, it was dead enough today so I suspect a draw is the likeliest outcome.

Injuries aren't being kind to us this season to say the least!

We seem to have lost interest in Lancs with not a single comment for the recent Roses loss.

Today we're playing Middlesex at Southport and have bowled them out for 180

However, a drastic start to the Lancs innings with Davies & Livingstone falling to the 2nd & 3rd balls of the innings.
    0-2

    Looks like a seamers paradise!

I think the 1 day games seem to have increased interest to be honest.

First day back at work today after some time off, I'm destined not to see any cricket until the T20 I think! Weather not the best forecast over the weekend either.

Alex Davies is an infectious, very likeable character who is probably one of the most popular players at OT - but a long term championship opener he is not.

85 for 4. Hopefully, Chanderpaul can stick around for a while.

Close of Day 1. Lancs 123 for 4, trailing Middlesex by 57 runs.

The spread betting companies have our 1st innings score at around 260. We'll need a few more than that I fancy to give us a serious chance of upsetting the champs.

Good bowling effort by Lancs. Not many batsmen have found it easy today and this is where you hope that overseas contingent will utilise their experience tomorrow. Disappointing to see Livingstone depart for a duck after his recent heroics with England A.

Hameed is woefully out of form. His England place will be short lived at this rate.

I see he bowled a few overs in the Roses match. Maybe we have a genuine all rounder, to challenge the likes of Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali etc .

We needed that result...... The top 4 all won including us.

As with North End, i will be keeping my eyes on the bottom of the table to make sure we open up a big enough gap !!

    Pessimistic i know...........
