    This particular page is all about the Preston - Southport Line. The map on the right, has photos from all the stations on the now long since destroyed route.

    Perhaps the long-mooted tram system could be extended to take in Penwortham, Longton etc? (some hope��)

    I would think a tram line from Preston station down Fishergate Hill and along the A59 as far as Much Hoole would be more than possible. The road seems wide enough in Penwortham and certainly is beyond Howich. Could use the old west lancs line to branch off to Longton, New Longton etc.
