Old Dog is also to open soon and a wine bar just off Berry Lane...
My initial thought would be to consider, if they can, (Higher) Penwortham or Longton. Both have a big, affluent populations and are served very poorly ale wise.

Whilst Longton does have four pubs they have sold the same seven, mainstream, pubco ales for years (Bombardier, Wainwright, Copper Dragon, Greene King IPA, Theakstons Best, Doombar and Dizzy Blonde) and none of them look like changing any time soon.

Higher Penwortham has two pubs, The Fleece and The Sir Tom Finney as well as St Teresa's Club. The Fleece is an eatery and bloody expensive and the STF seems unable to stay open a month before the latest manager quits and it closes. St Teresa's was known for its good ale but my last Camra email indicated it's down to one, sometimes two ales, usually from Moorhouses.

So if they fancy turning one of the empty Liverpool Road shops in Penwortham or vacant units in the old Booths in Longton into a micropub tell them to go for it!

Yeah saw that. Be interesting to see how it does and what, if any, beers it sells.
