The dangers of an election in which a partisan newspaper media dictates the terms. Fuck this country.

Pretty much sums up how I feel. The dangers of an election in which a partisan newspaper media dictates the terms. Fuck this country.
Labour, for the most part, only have themselves to blame for this result. They clearly need a new, more charismatic leader than Miliband.
As for the Tories, they look set to win about 20 more seats than last time, so clearly not that many folk are unhappy with what they've done in the past 5 years.

And Ed....
This. The amount of people I have heard today say "I voted Tory as I don't like Ed Milliband and the way he talks."

I voted Tory cos Labour are shite. As they've proved time and time again including the last three months.
Boundary changes coming up soon and the number of MPs will drop to 600.
Could spell the end for Labour.
What time is it socially acceptable to crack open the fizzy? Or should I just say "to hell with, let's party all day"?Champagne on ice I trust
At some point Labour must sit down and decide if it wants to develocp a strategy for creating wealth.
It once was a grassroots organisation dedicated to improving the lot of ordinary people now it just seem to be Dominated by politically correct London luvies and social workers. That always knows best.
They proved themselves undemocratic in opposing an EU referendum.
If anything today's result was a victory for basic pragmatism over idealism.
I share folks concerns about what happens now. But this election demonstrates a failure
Of opposition politics rather than a victory for conservatism.
My own opinion is that the left of centre has failed to convince on economics.
People have had enough of tax and spend.. The Tories could show
a track record of sorts on the economy.

Looking back at a few posts claiming Labour would actually win this....... Snigger
Well it's another 5 years of economy in safe hands. Hopefully we'll get rid of this deficit and our kids won't be saddled with a load of debt we racked up.
First leader in decades to win support during the course of his tenure. Which kind of highlights how well the last 5 years have gone.
All in all pleased and looking forward to the next 5 years!
Completely agree. Labour was once a party for the working class person, the socialist. Which is essentially I belive why so many north of the border have voted SNP. Its not a vote up there for independence its a vote, and I quote a good friend here "socialism, progressive policies and an alternative to austerity". Labour could to to listen and take note.
I sincerely hope that when people vote in the the up and coming referendem on the EU, which will happen, they do so after considering the implications carefully and not scaremongering regarding immigration.
It's going to be a tough 5 years for a lot of people I know. It really is.
Anyway, its done now, they are in charge so now I turn my attention to the SDSR. Let's see what that has in store. At least Cameron pledge to protect defence spending.
I'm looking to my investment portfolio rocketing today. I've held a lot of Centrica shares which have been depressed I guess due to the uncertainty of possible massive tax hikes on them by labour, had they got in. But know that's out of the way they should rocket. Just need to put Chesterfield to bed on Sunday and it'll turn out to be a fantastic weekend.Looking back at a few posts claiming Labour would actually win this....... Snigger

I don't think the UK will ever get rid of the deficit, nor the associated debt. When was the last time the UK managed a balanced economy or even a surplus? Reducing the size of the deficit and trying to control the rate the national debt increases imho is as close as any government would dare to go. For all the wailing about 'Tory cuts' the deficit is still enormous, as is the national debt.
