Next labour leader

There was absolutely no point in Lisa Nandy outright lying about this point.

Very poor.

Well yes, because socialism epitomises stupidity. And jealousy.

I guess it's the taking part that counts then...

Never seen such a song and dance made about a defeat in my entire life!

Part of the problem we have is that people are ignorant. They believe what they read in the Mail et al and hear from people like Trump. It's not King's fault he doesn't actually understand what socialism actually is - but this is part of the issue we need to address.

So I can understand this problem more, please can you explain why you think socialism epitomises stupidity and jealousy King?

You have popped up on here to slag off anyone that is socialist. You think socialism is going to rob you. This government is robbing you dumb arse.

Robbing me of what, exactly?

What's wrong with wanting a party to hold socialist values rather than one that does whatever it can in order to win?

Nothing, I guess. It’s just that particular party won’t win. I guess they could get a medal for sticking to their principles. Bravo.

Ah yes, the whole ‘Educate yourself!’ narrative. My opinion isn’t actually my opinion, it has simply been brought on my reading the mail and Trump’s tweets. Ok!

Socialists only see the outcome, not the process. Perhaps they should try to understand the process behind an individual becoming wealthy and attempting to apply that to the less wealthy individual.

For example they don’t care about all the jobs the likes of Bill Gates has created, because they middle class left couldn’t actually give a fuck about the poor. They just see the material success of Bill Gates and, no matter how much he pays in tax or to charity, continue to demand that it is ‘redistributed more evenly’.

It is the philosophy of failure.

So if the middle class socialists don't care for the working poor or those in genuine need and reliant on the system, and nor do you, and nor does the Government, then just who is going to try and help them out or stand up for them and their ability to lead a life with enough to live on?

And in one fail swoop you've confirmed what I said. What you've said is utter bollocks - what I want to know is why that's what you believe socialism is?

Carry on like this Jake and you might just get a Christmas card from me........ Joking aside though, I think it's very sad that many seem to think of socialism as a pariah..... Most of us are just a run of bad luck away from needing assistance and that's what it's all about in my view...Ensuring that assistance is there when needed.

I appreciate the sarcastic reply but you do understand that there are people in this world that aren't able to survive in your " survival of the fittest " regime don't you?......

arent you talking about Social Security rather than Socialism?

i think king is saying he doesnt support socialism, i've not read any comment from king against social security

Typical blinkers.

In your view, if someone does not agree with socialism then it is simply because they don't understand what it is. And there we have the problem of Labour's 2019 GE. I guess not everyone is educated enough to have voted for Corbyn...

An interesting article about the battle between populists and anti-populists, which has a lot of truth, IMO, and is something the various candidates will face once they become leader:

I challenged you to tell me what you think socialism is. That's all. I don't think you can because when you tried earlier you were banging on some shit about Bill Gates.

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Sinister 🙄

what i took from king's points before were that socialism can create a sort of jealousy of wealthy people, regardless of how that wealth has been created and how much further wealth it creates for many others. a jealousy which is toxic and creates us and them. everyone should pay their taxes, should absolutely be held to account but the state take responsibility in ensuring everyone plays by the rules.

i personally do not care how much wealth someone has as long as it has been earned in a legal manner, maybe i would even add moral to that too, and that taxes are fully paid.

i personally cannot abide jealousy and it is a very very negative characteristic and emotion.

but i take the point absolutely, who can argue it, UK is a wealthy enough nation for no child to go hungry and no person to not have a bed under a roof; however these really complex situations are not always remedied by even more government.

I asked you to explain because I don't believe there is a difference....If you can't do that then fair enough....Your post above tends to agree with me.

well in my opinion there is a difference, but they're obviously closely linked. i just thought your earlier posts seemed to suggest king had issues with social security rather his points were on socialism. wasnt my debate anyway.

And there he was talking absolute crap.

I didnt realise that Starmer was odds on favourite to become the next labour leader ...

I think that at the start of the process rebecca bailey long was clear favourite but it now looks like it will be Starmer ( if the odds are correct )
