Watched Pump Up The Volume last night. Probably seen it about 30 times. So 80's!
7.5/10 - a lot of cheese, but it's a classic, and references some ace bands.

Watched 'mid90s' last night. Saw it at the cinema a while ago but I did take bottles of red wine in with me so forgot bits of it. Mind you, I was on the red last night too (@Ando60). So it's kinda based on the skateboarding community (you may tell from my current avatar that's my bag) but it's about more than that. Being directed by Jonah Hill you'd think it was a comedy, but it isn't. Probably won't appeal to a lot of you, but for those it does have a check. It's pretty real. Make allowances for some of the 'acting' cause I guess it's similar to Clerks and Mallrats etc in that they're not using 'proper actors'.

I was heavily into skateboarding the first time round (late 70's). Had some decent facilities up here like Blackpool and Bolton and we used to use them virtually every weekend. Actually went to Brighton a few times and used the bowls down there. Belaire Lip Bomb wheels and gullwing trucks (can't remember the deck I had).
How times change though. From being very good in my teens, I tried just standing on one a couple of years ago and nearly breaking my neck in the process.🤣
Good times.

Uncut Gems (Netflix)

Fast paced, wasn't sure what was happening in the 1st ten minutes.

Really enjoyed it. Wasn't expecting that ending. Bitter / Sweet.

8/10.

Watched this on your recommendation and while I found it a heart warming storey, I'm only scoring it 7 as 9.5 would put it up there with my best ever films. Decent watch though

Completely agree actually. Good film, decent enough watch but 7/10 for me.

over the last couple of nights i've watced 3 classics 1-Zulu 8/10 2- Sergeant York 1942 i think the great Garry Cooper. 9/10.
and The dirty dozen 1967 . 10/10.

I was waiting for the wife and daughters to go out so I could watch 3 hours and 29 minutes of The Irishman in peace. Friday provided the opportunity.

Superb cast and as you would expect Di Niro, Pacino, Pesci and the supporting cast of Keitel & Romano were excellent. Special mention to, for our own Stephen Graham, who in my opinion you would never have guessed was a scouser, his American accent was very good and he has proved himself to be a very fine actor over the past few years.

For it's acting alone it's worth a watch, but it falls short of being anything like The Godfather or GoodFellas, or a favourite of mine A Bronx Tale. It's a bit slow and it doesn't keep you on the edge of your seat, it could comfortably have been cut by an hour and still told the storey. If you do have three and a half hours to kill and like a bit of La Cosa Nostra, it's definitely worth a watch.

A solid 8/10 based on the cast more than anything and my enjoyment of this genre of film.

Watched The Gentleman on Amazon last night. A Guy Ritchie Cockernee movie... Not quite back to lock stock but very damn near.
Enjoyed it more than i thought i would.

Casino.
Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone.
Absolute belter.
Pesci as Nick, a mafia enforcer must be the most scary 5ft. man you're ever likely to meet but ultimately he pushes his luck too far.
Highly recommended.

It’s class.

I’ve watched a couple of the Mission Impossible films this week and surprisingly I liked them.

I've never seen or tbh, had the slightest inclination to watch any of the MI films and I don't really know why.
Other Tom Cruise films I've seen have in the main been quite watchable.
Might give them a go.

I’d felt the same pal.

I was struggling for something to watch and gave one a try.

Couple of ladies in them that are particularly easy on the eye as well..........

which was nice.
