That's the Callum Lang I have been saying we should sign.Pre-Season - Final Friendly
Wigan 3-1 PNE
Goal 0 Lang (Free kick)
OK Lads now tonight wasn't important, but ffs that is not how to defend or attack.

Yes they all have to go. No clean slate because this is pre season, they’ve had their chance, they’re not good enough and time to hold your hand up and say enough’s enough. Add Ripley to that list as well.Yes, this was our second team, but it was very concerning that you could only pick three players from the XI who are definitely Championship standard - Browne, Sinclair, & Bauer.
It just beggars belief that we still have players playing who have proven time and time again that they are not good enough for this club. Maguire, Harrop, Rafferty, & Hudson to name a few.
The likes of Maguire and Harrop in particular should be embarrassed that they have been outshone by a new, presumed fairly unfit lad from Brig who is on trial.
We also need to sell Bayliss whilst he still has at least some value to his name.
Bloody hell mate, not doing too well with names today are you 😂All we are saying is.
1969, Lenon at his finest.
Maguire spearheading any attack is useless. He has his uses to this squad but it’s not leading the line, that’s for sure. Always pushed off the ball, second in the air and seemingly born in an offside position.
Hard to disagree with you. He’s seemingly a cracking lad and works very hard but he’s not fit for purpose at this standard post injury.Well thankfully people are beginning to realise that - hopefully FM will now as well. The way Maguire played last night epitomised everything I have been saying about him for a good while now. Yes he showed some battling qualities and when he dropped deep and received the ball with his back to goal he could still play a neat ever clever little lay-off - I will stress again that there is nothing wrong with his attitude and commitment. But he has totally lost the pace and sharpness that once made him such a dangerous striker - was there a single occasion when a forward pass to him produced anything more at most than a return ball from him back to where it originated and often enough not even that? His ability to run onto a through ball, get ahead of a defender and head for goal has now totally evaporated - as a striker at Championship level he simply no longer registers. Harsh as it seems that verdict is unavoidable. I am not certain what uses he now could now have - Iooking for knockdowns if we were lumping balls forward to a big centre forward maybe even playing just behind the strikers but that is hardly where we are short. Frankly he just cannot now offer enough at this level to justify even a place in the squad - I genuinely wish I did not have to say that because I remember what an exciting player he once was but I just do not see that any other conclusion is possible.
Good tackle by Lewis Leigh
Apparently some big Premiership teams keeping an eye on him.

Lumping it forward to him will never work, that’s not his fault, that’s tactical and on the gaffer. But he has some great through balls put to him at times, proper defence splitters and his first instinct is to check back and give the defender a second chance, one they usually snap up, as opposed to carrying on the run through to the keeper.
I feel for him because when he first arrived he was quick, nimble and deadly in front of goal. But now unfortunately he lacks all those qualities.
Lancs Live are asking the question today too - "He is only a second-year scholar who is yet to be awarded a professional contract, unlike Josh Seary and Noah Mawene":Hmmm. Not sure I’d leave if I were him to be honest. Looks like he’s going to be involved this season (probably sporadically but will trump playing in an U23 team for 2/3 years IMO) and will be able to play some football when he doesn’t make the squad thanks to our new reserve team (at a considerably lower level than the U23s though it has to be said).
I guess the only thing playing on his mind might be the absence of a professional contract here. I’m sure the security of a 3/4 year contract at a very reputable Prem club would appeal in those circumstances.
The thing is Ridsdale made an error of judgement saying " the job was McAvoys to lose" this has backed us in a corner.I do mate, yeah. That was basically our reserve team and a couple of kids.
With Evans, Riis, Cunningham, Potts, Hughes, Whiteman, DJ, Ledson, Lindsay, Iverson/Rudd and Storey etc. .. We would have dismantled that Wigan side.
I get that we definitely still do need attacking additions and a bit of work here and there but let's not pretend that starting XI will be the same one we field against championship opposition.
I do share some of your concerns though.

Good work from Earl and Bayliss in the build up, strong finish from Rodwell Grant
Tbf, I'm sure Riis would kill for a pass like that, he loves playing on the shoulder of the defender. Think Seani is trying to do too much when he's off the ball. That’s a really good finish, but watch how he times his run too, picks up space and keeps himself in line in case the pass comes through. Think only Sinclair would have the movement to do that out of our other options
Maybe, but both Riis and Maguire get caught offside a lot, so I’m not sure Riis would’ve managed to keep himself in line like that.Tbf, I'm sure Riis would kill for a pass like that, he loves playing on the shoulder of the defender. Think Seani is trying to do too much when he's off the ball.
