    Rotherham v PNE

Only won once this season but that was home to Norwich. Typical Championship result, need to be treated with respect.

    EXCITEMENT

You are right, this is a time to enjoy. As I start my 60th season following North End not many have been as encouraging. But just to add one note of caution, after 6 games of last season Reading we're top, and that didn't end too well for them, however after 7 games Sheff U were top and Burnley...

Lowe, style of play & tactics (present V past)

Excellent post from ArgylFan, who seems to have had a lot of time on his hands on the long journey back home. Up to the end of last season Lowe seems to have carried on what had worked for him before. However I have seen significant changes since the start of this season. Gone is the playing out...

Ridsdale speaks to the LEP about the summer transfer window

I was surprised when he quoted 3 out of 5 again. It's time everyone just moved on from that and "got in the real world!"

    Matchday Thread Stoke City v PNE - 2/09/23 - KO:3PM - Championship

The top six don't really worry me. It's how we handle teams like Cardiff and Millwall at Deepdale. We struggled last season but we're more creative this time and should be able to break them down. There seems to be more teams who love to have 70% in the division this year and that suits us just...

    Bravo Kian Best!

If we are only looking at bringing a Prem team LWB prospect like Alvaro was last year then I would rather keep Kian in the team and develop him. Absolutely no advantage to bringing in someone else at the same level and stunting Kians development. Yes he has a lot to learn but don't all 17 year...

    Odd League Table

Division One league table from 1895-96, about 2 games before the end of the season. Small Heath became Birmingham city, United is Sheffield United.

Summer 2023 : Transfer Window Rumours and Discussion

I suppose it depends who you talk to. It's only opinions and everyone can have one.

North End - FA Cup run 1964.

It's suprising how small that Forest team are only one over 6ft and pretty lightweight too. Perhaps thats why they were so poor! I missed both the replays but got to the Carlisle game and the soggy semi final with my Dad. Didn't go to Wembley but Dad got a new TV for the final. Joined all the...

    Matchday Thread Millwall v PNE - 15/04/23 - KO:15:00 - Championship

Need to go for a win. Win the next 3 and we're at least 3 point clear of everyone else in the chase. A draws make it a lot more uncertain. Would need points at Sheff U and on the last day v Sunderland. No margin for error.

Massive long shot…but have a guess.

Millwall have the easiest run in on paper but we're at the point where top teams start losing and bottom teams pick up unexpected wins. We need to beat them, a draw may not be enough. Norwich have Boro and WBA but also QPR and last game home to the Lashers! I hope we're not relying on them on...

    Gentry Day - Middlesbrough v PNE - 18/03/23 - KO:15:00

But thats the nature of league football. 3 go up, 3 go down the rest think about what could have been, if only.... I'd still rather be us than Blackpool.

Preston North End 9 Cardiff City 0

One of the Sunday papers, maybe the People, had photos of all 9 goals on the back page.

If I remember correctly Dilwyn John played for the Welsh u23 earlier in the same week and let in 6 or 7.
