How many transfers did you expect to see between the transfer window opening and the early bird deadline (5 days) that would have made you buy?

Players aren't even free agents for another 3 weeks.
I’m sure if there was agreement with all parties they could find a way to dangle a few carrots .

I didn’t really expect any and understand that the likelihood of it also pretty slim, which is why I would have settled with just any effort from the board to acknowledge the current recruitment/transfer policy is not up to standards and any sort of positive change towards that was going to be made.

However it’s just been same old and tbh i think watching another season of Woodburn attempting to play football will give me PTSD anyway.

Hey @Tino, welcome back… where have you been ??

Myself and a couple others (Pne “Shit fan” group) I go on with were discussing renewing on deadline day after we’d said we wouldn’t unless there was some sign of improvement in terms of recruitment. We agreed not to renew and once the deadline passed everyone was relieved we didn’t renew especially with the same old story’s coming out “contract stumbling blocks” “bids rejected” etc.

We agreed to go on the first home match and do several away days instead.

I’m buzzing the clubs sold 11k season tickets and I wish I had the same attitude as the rest of the fan base but for me the frustration of seeing the same old drivel come from the board and the potential of having up to 23 Saturdays ruined isn’t worth me/us committing.

However simply signing a natural right (wing)back or making any sort of positive effort towards progression and development of the squad to give just an glimpse of hope that we might actually do something would make us buy back in.

Whilst I fully accept its up to you and your mates to do what you want with your money and make that choice whether to renew or not, there was never going to be a surge of activity transfer wise before the early bird period ended.

CH has stated that they want to get back to the model of signing young, promising players with sell on value. Whether they will or not remains to be seen but these players do also need experience alongside them, Brady and Cunningham offer that in spades plus both can be very good at this level, still not exactly old enough to be past it and I'd presume aren't on mega money now.

Agree on Woodburn, however once players come in which they will, I doubt we'll see him a great deal. Personally, I'd get them renewed. Yes we're all gambling a bit because the new signings have to be good or we're fucked but at least if they mess it up we can try and make Deepdale a horrible place to come to and try and scrape the results together to keep us up. Relegation would be a disaster.

continuing in the positive theme a big mention to Matt in the ticket office who has gone over and above to help with a bit of a musical chairs thing.
so important to mention the good stuff because there’s lots of it in the overall scheme of things

Matt and Hannah both helped me above and beyond with a request I made when renewing for my dad.

The staff in the ticket office are first class and a credit to themselves and the club

My friend is currently unable to drive whilst he awaits results of a CT scan and a decision on an operation. He emailed the ticket office to ask if they could reserve his seat until he knows how the land lies.
They emailed back to say no problem, of course they would reserve his seat.
It's nice to know one part of operation PNEFC works well.

Will he get the early bird discount too?

Echo all the good stuff being said about the ticket office. I've always found them a pleasure to deal with; always friendly and polite and prepared to go the extra mile to help.
During covid lockdowns when we couldn't go to football the phone rang one morning. When I picked it up it was one of the guys from the ticket office. He'd just rung for a chat to make sure I was ok. It was when there was much concern about people who live on their own and how they were coping with the lockdowns and not being able to get out and about and meet others. He stayed on the phone chatting for ages - we talked about all things football and he seemed particularly interested in my reminiscences about watching football back in the 60's. He was really pleasant throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. He ended by wishing me all the best and hoped it wouldn't be long before I was able to watch football at Deepdale again.
I wonder just how many other clubs would have done the same?
