Are we mathematically safe ?!

For us to go down, we would need to come 22nd. Which means all the teams (bar the bottom 2) need to get above us.

Currently the team with the lowest possible maximum points (bar last 2) is Stoke. P 40 Pts 43. Max Pts = 43+18 = 61

PNE are already on 57. So, on that you would say Stoke and still get passed us, but even that is extremely unlikely. There is a reason they average 1 point per game.

Moreover, all those other teams below us would all have to get above us. It's quite a complicated calculation, but my guess is that's just about impossible, because they have many games against each other.

In addition, there are teams facing points deductions. For example, assuming Wigan get 12 points off, they already couldnt catch PNE.

So, yes we are in terrible form, but no, we can't go down.

More scared we won't get out of the rut and it'll ruin next season.

One point from six games is diabolical form.

Yes. Some of the teams below us have to play each other thus they cannot catch our 57 points total.

Absolutely this.

If we’re to believe the line that all’s well in the camp, that our terrible form since November is mainly down to “fine margins”, bad luck and “individual errors” we need to see signs, very soon, of serious improvement in our play, the attacking threat we pose, real chances created and goals.

Four points off the Play Offs with eighteen to play for means we still have a chance.

Let’s all hope that AN can get the team playing effective attacking football in these remaining six matches and that he shows the win at all costs approach he boasted of and was successful with in his early PNE tenure.

If we see that but fail to reach the Play Offs at least it will provide hope for next season.

...and a bit of entertainment for the remainder of this.
