Black life in America

Because
there's more home ownership per population & the mortgages are so high & take so long to pay off, plus it's Established so deeply now that both people share the Mortgage ( by how much a %-age per month from each of the separate one-of-the-two people , who knows ? ) ---------
------- I'd suggest more couples are learning to tolerate each other & stay together, as a factor in itself - not taking any children into consideration (?)

That doesn't fit with a 40% + divorce rate...........That said I'm buggered if I know how far back they've gone to arrive at that figure... To be honest I'm more inclined to agree with your theory, certainly in more recent years

The last unarmed man shot dead by police in the UK was Sean Fitzgerald in 2019. For some reason there wasn't quite the furore over that one. No MPs desperate to pass comment or share an opinion on the police etc.

I completely get the family's initial reaction and do not blame them in seeking (what they think will be) justice and to get his name out there.

But I do blame the melons who have jumped on yet another widespread social issue without knowing the facts, just so they 'appear' to be standing for the right thing.

I'm yet to see Labour MPs marching for the two police officers who were stabbed by a black man a few days ago, but I might just be looking in the wrong places.

You’re not, it just won’t happen.

Those type of people don’t see the police as victims. But they tend to see all people of colour as victims that need special treatment and protection.

Its racism, of low expectations.

The guy has been apprehended and is in custody, he will now go through the justice system.

That Justice will be seen to be done, the time for protest is if it isnt.

Derek Chauvin being apprehended didn't stop the Americans looting their shops and setting places on fire though. So not necessarily.

I said right at the begining, when this happened, that it will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Gladly no comparisons to the US and all the protests have been well organised and peaceful.
