Sure I heard somewhere that over 500 out of the 650 elected MP's didn't want us to leave the EU in the first place.
Thats part of the problem,imo, in that many are not representing their constituents views ,just their own.

They are there to represent the people. That includes Brexiteers and Remainers. It also includes managing the result of a referendum.

What we have seen is career politicians doing their will and not representing their constituents - those constituents included referendum voters who didn’t necessarily vote for them /their party in a general election.

It was the duty of MPs to reflect the referendum vote ( both Brexit and Remain) in their constituencies- they didn’t . That’s immoral , selfish and plainly wrong.

The public aren’t stupid - some of these shysters are going to get an almighty kicking at the ballot box some time soon.

Deservedly so.

The whole point of a representative democracy is that we elect MPs to serve our best interest and that doesn't always mean going along with stupid decisions that have sprung from stupid referendums that will hurt their constituents. If you don't like the way your MP has voted then it's your right to not vote for that MP again. If you want a delagate system then you best move to a country that operates that way.

Didn't our representatives require us to make a decision via a "stupid" referendum ? And if our representatives knew all along it was a "stupid" referendum then what does that make them ?

And if they won't implement the "stupid decision" reached in the "stupid referendum" that they asked us to make.. then why should anyone trust them to do anything they say ?

Not all voted to hold the referendum, in fairness, 53 voted against.

Yeah they did, point out where I said our representatives aren't stupid themselves ? Some are better than others but the reality is we vote them in to make decisions on our behalf. The referendum was stupid, it's devided a nation, families and friends have fallen out over this massive clusterfuck. Had there been a clear brexit option/plan rather than just "leave" then it might have been less stupid and I might well have voted that way myself. So I stand by my comment it was a stupid referendum.
