Can we avoid relegation this season given our current form and how tight things are? Here is the run-in towards the end of the season.

Below are the remaining fixtures for all those who are still possibly in contention of relegation from the Championship down to League 1 (I will knock teams off this list when they are no longer in contention). I have put in bold the games where teams who are in contention for a bottom three place play each other and in italics when it is a team in contention for a top 6 place. I will up-date this on at least a weekly basis.

Can we? Yes. Will we? Probably. Is the 20/1 currently available a good bet? YES, especially given that those odds will more than likely be a hell of a lot shorter after the next 4 games!

I just checked back on last season, after 39 games Charlton were 17th with 45 points and a minus 8 goal difference. They were relegated with 48 points 3 draws and four defeats later. Then bottom three at 39 games were Wigan 35 , Barnsley 38 and Luton 39 who all picked up 11 or 12 points in their last 7 games.
This season Wycombe 30 and Sheff W 32 are starting from a lower base but Rotherham 35 have 4 extra games to play and Coventry 39 have the same points that Luton had last year but with an extra game to play.
If history teaches us anything it's not to be complacent, all this talk of 48 points being enough may be a bit optimistic. Until were over 50 points I'm looking over my shoulder at the results of all the teams below us.
