CONFIRMED Club update from Craig Hemmings

Think one of Hemmings many companies (Fellow Homes) built the houses just off Wycnhor. The much larger site where the clubhouse used to be was sold to Bellway Homes.

As you say though the 350k per home profit is a wild exaggeration.
I actually thought they would be nearer 500k houses, Hadn't realised they only sell for 140k Seems very cheap for a house these days. So I retract the profit amount. Still made a tidy sum.

"There is a clear determination to build a squad that can compete at the top end of the Championship and ultimately deliver promotion" is a blatant lie.

I would've had far more respect for him if he came out & said "we're quite happy where we are at, we aren't gonna push the boat out to get to the Premier League".

At least we would know where we stood.

And your devotion, spending second after second, minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, years and years, on a forum finding fault with Preston North End Football Club

One Flew Over a Cuckoos Nest.

He doesn't need to look that hard to be fair.

So basically be thankful we still exist, be thankful we throw much needed money away and then moan about having to cover losses. Who in their right mind would appoint someone with the reputation of Risdale in the first place? No I'm sorry, this stinks, no ambition, like sh*t, runs downhill.Lets just exist and be miserable - TOTAL BS

Mouthpiece #1 (Ridders) is pretty much disliked by a considerable (imho) chunk of the fanbase.

Mouthpiece #2 (RL) is starting showing us that he's most likely not the dogs bollocks we'd hoped he'd be.

That statement was needed in terms of timing, definitely not when it comes to content. We were sold a crock of bullshit over the summer, the statement should have at the very least admitted to that

Statement Boy (CH) should rally himself for some uncomfortable Saturday afternoons.

The people of Preston are Fickle Sheep
That is totally out of order. I will continue to support the team but that does not mean I don't have the right to question the way things are done.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism as true supporters want the Club to improve.Your blanket insult is totally uncalled for.

A statement with lots of words but absolutely no substance.

They say they have a vision for the club, but without even giving a glimpse of what this is, then it's just words without meaning. Like saying we have "Premier league ambition", it means nothing as so do 24 other clubs.

How hard is it to say "We have a vision for the club. In the past, we have pursued a policy of signing players with a proven track record in the English leagues, but we are moving away from this approach as it has proven costly and has not delivered the results we anticipated. Whilst experienced players will always be needed to assist in leading the team, we will focus our efforts in this area to free transfers on limited contracts to reduce our risk and expenditure. In future windows, we will be pursuing a strategy of spending the funds we have available on younger players we can develop, supplemented by loan players from premiership youth academies. We will also be placing an emphasis on giving opportunities to our youth team graduates. We want Preston North End to have a young, dynamic and entertaining football team and are confident that this approach will deliver this to the fans."

Maybe I've misunderstood things but didn't The Riddler say back in May that the Hemmings family had signed off the agreed budget for the next two years?

So both he and the manager knew going in to this Summer precisely what funds were available. Lowe said at the time he leaves the financials to our "master negotiator"

This Club Statement is basically Craig Hemmings saying that it was down to Ridsdale to manage that agreed, signed off budget and to liaise with Lowe to strengthen the squad within that budget. What appears to have happened, is that Ridsdale has spent what we have then anticipated being allowed "bonus" funding for a "bargain signing" as he would under Trevor Hemmings but was told no (probably due to the complications from the Will etc)

This was when he started his campaign to wriggle out of responsibility in private messages to fans. In my opinion, this statement is an attempt to publicly clear the air and state the budget had been set, agreed but not stuck to.

I wouldn't mind betting that the statement from Craig Hemmings has then been embellished slightly by a certain Director before publication...

This statement raises more questions than answers.

1. CH refers to the family putting in £12m p.a. The way in which this is written allows the gullible to assume that they will continue to put £12m this season too. How can this be? The amount of player and management expenditure offloaded as at 30th June (the end of the 2021/22 season financial year) must have significantly exceeded that commited by the signing of new players. This must mean that either the family will be putting less than £12m in this season, or there's a sizeable unspent budget. Which is it?

2. When CH states that paying up the contract of some players (Bayliss, Earl and Harrop) had to come out of this season's budget, he is correct. But these aren't extra costs that reduced the budget for new signings. They were contracted until 30/6/23 and their wages would have been budgeted for. If he meant that we didn't make any savings to put towards new signings by doing this, he should have said so. Once again it's written in such a way that some will assume that this cut our budget.

3. If what CH says is true about the budget having been set before the start of the new financial year, it makes some of the subsequent decisions ludicrous. Why sign Ben Woodburn instead of a striker? Why pay up Josh Earl and bring in 2 new lwb's (so the cost of 3 players for that position is commited for this year) instead of using some of the funding for a rwb? Why did RL say that he'd been given the green light to bring in 4 new players, then after bringing 2 in having to talk about 1 in 1 out. Nothing changed during the summer re: the budget? Yeah, right.

4. Looking for ways to improve the academy? Bulling up Euxton? Sadly CH seems tone deaf about Ingol. What happened there might be normal in the Hemmings family businesses, but it's left a bad taste in the mouths of many PNE fans, and I should imagine, many at the Council. They have a suitable site in their ownership (Ingol). Are they hoping UCLAN will fund the indoor facility there?

5.If there is a strategy, what is it?
Exactly this.

Taken at face value, Peter’s statement (because that’s what it is) looks reasonable and is pulling quite a few in. Let’s face it, he’s very, very good at that but it’s still depressing to see so many long-standing fans falling for it. 🙁

Because the statement doesn’t stand up to scrutiny at all.

It’s not about the millions the Hemmings have put in, it’s about how that money has been spent.

I’ve not much sympathy for them, though. They can’t moan about losing £12m a year if they haven’t got the guts or gumption to change the guy in charge.

There’s no clear strategy, other than blindly following the advice of a dinosaur whose notorious ‘achievements’ at Leeds, Plymouth, Cardiff, etc are there for all to see.

Until he goes, we’re going nowhere but down.

In terms of attracting new owners, the Hemmings are saying: ‘Here’s a badly-run, loss-making business . . . which we want £30m for up front.’ 🙄

One thing’s for sure - despite all the hope, buzz and optimism generated by the fans, this season is not going to end well. 🙁

That's the crux of it for me, if you're going to carry on with the same infrastructure, same academy, same director who is unwilling to change and the same transfer strategy then you deserve to have your 12 million pissed up the wall and no thank you's from the fans.

Invest in your football club, invest in your infrastructure and invest in your squad and reap the rewards, players like Riis, McCann, Woodman, Whiteman etc have the base line quality to be developed and sold on for a profit, reinvest it and keep the cycle going.

Add the odd wildcard in Woodburn, Ferdandez and Parrot to strengthen the squad but invest in your core and bring your youth through.

Then why have you been talking like a dick for the last few months?

Too be honest are we really happy just going through the motions, year after year? There is no excitement, no pride,no sheer bloody mindedness. Take a gamble, buy players, go for it or we may as well just shut up shop.

You're right. Selling land for housing development is done per acreage/hectarage not on the number of houses

It would be interesting to know how many owners secretly felt this way, sick of the relentless haemorrhaging of cash on overpaid disappointments.
