We are having a bad run and people are beginning to talk of alternatives to AI. I thought I would chalk up a few of the differences between now and when we were in the doldrums under Simpson.
Simpson Irvine
In the relegation zone Mid table
Playing awful football Attempting (at least) to play good football
Totally unfit One of the fittest teams
Disorganised Generally well organised
Unrest in the locker room The team seem to rate the manager highly
Inherited a strong squad Inherited a weaker squad with low morale
I am sure others will add to the list.
I am as disappointed as the next fan at the current slump. Irvine has made mistakes and as an inexperienced manager will make more (but hopefully fewer and fewer). I wanted to see the back of Simpson but I can see that AI is doing a fair job of building for the future. His main problem is a lack of funds to buy and subsequently pay players hence a relatively weak squad suffering at the moment from injuries to key players.
My main point is don't panic. Lets back the manager and the team and see where we are at the end of the season
