Is bayliss actually real ?

Seems like one of the strangest signings ever by PNE. Bought at great expense yet used hardly at all. Never spoken of, save for sporadic appearances on the bench he remains a mystery. The only way I can try to explain it is that he must shine either in training or the bounce game . I’d love to see him play sometime soon

There is no point in playing him just for the sake of it. Anybody displacing any of our midfield at the moment is going to have to be blooming good. I don't thing there is anything other than that in it.

This is how PNE do things, if people havent already noticed. They rarely buy the finished article but have developed a system, I know this is strange in this day and age, where they actually look to the future.

He`ll start being a part of the first team set up as and when the gaffer thinks hes ready.

My view also.

He is a £2M player competing with players worth far more (Browne, Pearson) or with much more experience at this level (Gally, DJ).

Plus blooding him in pressure games when we were desperately short of numbers would not have been a good plan.

He will get his chance in due course.

Ironic really that fans complain when we spend peanuts on back up players or one for the future, but then continue to complain when the First Team is so good that we spend £2M on a back up player.
Footie fans!

Fans complain when the club sells a first-team player for £8m, then spends £2m on a player who isn't good enough for the first team.

It isn't "ironic".

They feel deprived of a first team player.

Browne,Pearson,Gallagher and DJ have all been out either injured or suspended at some point and for some time this season,AN has stated that players that play to his systems, work hard in training and do well in bounce game will be given a chance when opportunities arise.
Seeing the above have all been absent and Bay!lies has never been given an opportunity in the League and seeing for the previous two seasons he was playing regularly for Coventry all be it at a lower level, does seem a little odd.
You can only conclude that at this present time AN does not feel, even with the injuries and suspensions we've had to our midfielders that Bayliss is not yet at a level to make a major contribution to the team.

Given that he is contracted until 2022 he still has plenty of time to make a positive impact. Like most others I have seen very little of him. Hope he comes good as there are bound to be players leaving in the summer although promotion would no doubt lead to fewer exits.

He’s never playing ahead of Pearson. He’s never playing ahead of Browne.

I’ve been surprised when Potts has been used instead of him on occasion, but then again, they are different players.

I think Bayliss is more suited to the 4-2-3-1, in which Pearson and Gallagher are likely to start most games. When Potts is used, it’s usually in more of a 4-1-4-1 with two “runners” ahead of Pearson.

So Bayliss’ best chance of playing is when Gallagher doesn’t start alongside Pearson in a 4-2-3-1. However, maybe Neil doesn’t trust him, and prefers to take the safer approach of what he knows, rather than throwing him in.

Its an issue that he barely even makes it off the bench though - don’t think he’s played a minute of league football?

I watched him at Chorley in the Lancs Cup where Ginnelly scored 3, he was played in midfield and was absent the whole game, he made little or no effort to get involved and impress the fans or AN. I would have thought that he would be head and shoulders above the Chorley midfield given the supposed performance levels at Coventry resulting in such a high transfer fee, he was absolute pish.

Beyond weird.

Even more weird than Green. And that is weird.

Neil's main weakness is struggling to integrate new signings. They are all still mostly fringe players. Potts, Ledson, Ginelly etc.

You could argue that buying Stockley to play in a formation (front 3) he has never played before is also weird.

Bauer on a free kind of makes up for it? Would Rafferty even have played if it hadn't been for suspensions and injuries?

But, agree about Bayliss. I'm not sure what planets need to align for the perfect circumstances for Bayliss to play. Not sure it's important what we think. But I genuinely worry about what he must be thinking. And how this might affect his potential to develop? If we don't intend to play him loan the lad out.

We're doing OK without Bayliss. But it is plain weird he doesn't play.

I got him on the back of my shirt for Christmas.

Current list is: Baylis,Moult, Mavididi, McGeady, Makienok, Davies and Lee Trundle

At some point one of my shirt selections will come good

Bennett may have forced his way into the team according to Nixon today. I know it's Nixon but at the same time I'm not surprised. More competition for Bayliss who imo needs a League One loan
