Match Day - Sheff Wed v PNE - 08/07/20 - KO:19:45 - Championship

I thought he ran the game after the first drinks break

Running the game and being on the ball are dissimilar. Pearson stopped Bannan from making any meaningful impact except from set pieces at the expense of actually giving Bannan time on the ball. He was tired, but he did his job very well.

An interesting view from Jordan Storey, especially his words on Jayden Stockley, where he says we haven’t used him as effectively as we could have at times. I hope AN has read this.

Neil has said pretty much the same that he's most effective getting crosses in from wide. It's been what I've been banging on about for months how we don't seem to get to the by line and get crosses in for players to attack. We seem to think hitting Stockley from deep will somehow result in him scoring goals. The only way it might is if he has someone with him running off him....

Bannan passs

Bannan moved the ball on swiftly and with intent (and Pearson could learn from him). The fact that there was no meaningful impact was down to his teammates (and PNE's defence).

It really is hard to believe that after all the trauma we have been through with results lately that we somehow manage to get back on track with a win and someone is having a downer on one of our best players for nullifying their main man which contributed greatly to the victory.

He turned him into a water carrier instead of a playmaker then?

Bannan was their best player probably, though thought Palmer was ok, but he had nowhere near the impact on the game he has in the past. Was it last season he ran the game at Deepdale?

We did play better once Pearson went off though. Whether that was due to Pearson going off is up for debate. What probably isn't up for debate is that Pearson remains our best player. I just wish he'd move the ball on quicker.

Usually no one to move the ball on quickly to, when we we're playing one up front and the two wide men are on the half way line.

It was Pearo who played in Barkhuizen for that shocking miss wasn't it? and he would have played him through again if Ledson didn't get in his way in the second half.

It’s incredible to believe you think that’s the case. You remember that we were losing when he went off, right?
