Those who didn’t like the policies outlined in the Labour Manifesto and so couldn’t bring themselves to vote Labour might be interested to see that following the Tories second rail privatisation in as many years they’ve now plucked yet another policy from the Labour Manifesto and have pledged 4,000 buses to boost local transport outside of London.

Corbyn got slaughtered by the Tories when he suggested the very same thing at PMQs in 2018.

In fairness I think that ones a red herring and always has been...... I think it's a smokescreen used by the Labour party itself in order to hide it's complete balls up with their Brexit stance..... And they are still doing it. In my view there was /is very little wrong with Labour policy.

I don’t agree.

Whilst the issues of Brexit and the Tory rag lies about AS cost Labour many (the most?) votes so too did the radical socialist manifesto.

I’ve listened to a lot of people claiming to be Labour voters normally who were dead against what they felt were unaffordable policies particularly the nationalisation of rail, energy and water.

Anyway the Tories are now backtracking on their criticisms of some of the Labour policies they constantly slated by now implementing them. So I guess that might be of some interest to those who withheld their support for Labour on that basis.

Unfortunately I will have to double disagree...... The only people I've come across that were anti Labour policies were the ones that believed the media bullshit that was thrown in their faces day after day......... We seem to be agreeing on the end product but not on the means. No worries, it's done now. :)

Well I for one think Boris is right to have the Cabinet he wants

Leaders play a big part in General election wins or defeats, so I think they should have the team they want, BUT then they also take the blame if it goes wrong

This is the main reason by the way I was so keen on Brexit and still am, let the politicians WE vote for and expect them to keep their word, NO more relying on the excuses ‘the EU won’t let us’

Further to that

I question why we need such Qangos as Highways England and NHS England and others too

All we get is two lots of officialdom Included on the Ministerial side. A Secretary of State, various Ministers and Spads, plus a load of Civil Servants. And they are talking money for exactly what?

Now I thing Politicians in those fields should take the responsibly (instead of dodging it) and be answerable to the electorate, not faceless bodies

Save is a lot of money that would IMO

You havent a clue about how govt works, the relative size of the civil service to other equivalent nations, its effectiveness or the merits of employing kpmg etc at consultant rates to implement policy. Not a clue at all except for reading the Fail whose mantra is public servants are a waste of space. If not they, someone has to execute policy and protect value for money and that will cost money one way or the other. Otherwise your precious money will pour into your main ftse favourites like a drain.

Yes I do actually. And its obvious that most that spout on in the media either dont know or have an agenda to undermine it for their own advantage. That advantage generally being a commercial one. And its an easy target since it doesnt have any direct means of redress to untruths and misrepresentation. And all the consumers love to think its all very inefficient and wasteful. Makes themselves feel better about themselves.

The litany of failed privatised or outsourced services is lengthy....the Probation Service failed, Carillion and Interserve went bust, Crapita continues to offer some pretty shoddy services. The idea that privatising or outsourcing is cheaper or more effective, regardless, is ideology winning over proper commercial decisions.

What an ignorant buffoon.

Although I wouldn’t want him anywhere near me.
For someone who tries to be a populist, he doesn’t half do some unpopular things.
Someone will get through to him soon enough. My guess is that he’ll eventually relent and that we’ll see him in York or wherever, dressed in all the gear, sometime in the next 2 days.

Haha. Its difficult to front up and, on repeat, accuse people of doom mongering and project fear when the fan has been hit and youre confronted with people up to their necks in mud. No doubt he’d invoke the Churchillian spirit and stiff upper lip to get through and away to his next bottle of rouge.
