Matchday Thread PNE v Ipswich Town - 19/07/23 - KO:7PM - Friendly

If Whiteman remains unfit, who can play in that defensive midfield role other than Ledson who is clearly not good enough?
I have seen Mawene mentioned but he is an attacking player. Potts?

Woodburn was very good. Wanted the ball constantly and always looking to create.
In retrospect . He has is the only player of the first team squad in the games for far that has got himself in position to score .. clearances off the line. Hit the post , great save by the keeper tonight and a missed header he should have put away .. also matched the kids for energy .. undoubtably has done good technique to get by a player .. oh my , you see what happens when the rest of the senior players are dross . I start looking for rainbows in woodburn .. I hope there’s a pot of gold in there ..

Put Ali McCann there and stop playing the same unproductive football. So rigid that we’d rather use underperformers than adapt the play

There’s a few very obvious things which should’ve hit Lowe tonight. Bambo is still by far our best centre half, Mawene should be starting over Ledson every single day of the week and I’d even go as far as to say that Seary isn’t so far off Potts.
Bambo is rapid at getting himself out of the shit he puts himself in. Mawene played a totally different position to Ledson, Seary was OK.

We can’t be relying on Mawene and Seary… we will get ripped to pieces by the likes of Leicester, Southampton, Middlesbrough and Leeds…..

Woodman
Story--Bambo- Hughes
Ramsay- Brady
Whiteman(C)

McCann Mawene MFJ

Keane Riis

If I could pick a starting 11 based on who we have , this would be it.
Seen more from Mawene then Browne imho to warrant a starting place. Maybe Holmes too depending.

I saw him. He looked like a corner flag in a high wind.

"Stick to him like velcro". In a scouse accent.

Looks like relegation fodder unfortunately

Pre season friendly, very early days, however, I really don’t like this long ball to nowhere style in attack.
players need to get fitter, know each other and have more nouse on the ball.
Thought Browne played well.

Playing with 12 men is the only chance we’ve got at the moment.
True, I missed that🤣🫢, playing 5 at the back is too restrictive to get enough midfield/forwards involved in the first 11.
If we can all see it why can't the coaching team

Browne rumoured to be going to Stoke anyway so he won’t be available to select…..

Not quite sure why Browne is getting stick here, was the only midfielder with any credit whatsoever in the first half. He'll be disappointed not to have scored too.
