PNE youth team thread for 2018/19 season

Norfolk.... As its your first then expect the following :-
The teams will line up in the 1 - 11 numbering of olden times.... We will have a formation very similar to the 1st team normal formation.

Corocan will be the keeper and he talks well and is very confident (the youngest of our 3 YT keepers) and is our PEnalty shoot out specialist
Simmon will be No 2 and play RB from where he will try and get forward - more in the second half.
Coulton will be No 3 and is only 15...... very gifted footballer who will make the occasional overlap and crosses very well.
Earl Jnr will be no 5 and is the tallest of our defence (just ) and makes good tackles and recycles the ball well
McFadden will be no 6 and is probably our quickest defender and left footed - probs would have been LB had Armer been fit.

The midfield will be 3 from 5 depending on tactics.

4 will be Jack Baxter and he is very much the Ben Pearson of the team - very left footed though and plays the sitting role but a great engine
8 will be O'Reilly and he will either play alongside, though slightly infront, of Baxter OR play the 10 role of an Alan Browne... Again great engine and two footed - loves to break into the box. Neither of Jack or Adam are very big...
10 will be 1 of 3 - Dolan; Pollard or Nolan. I would expect us to play Dolan in the 10 role (hence OReilly slightly deeper) though Dolan played wide right last time, presumably because Norwich were strong in CM.... Dolan is an enigma.... loves to have the ball at his feet, loves to take people on in close spaces, great dribbler BUT his final ball or end pass is often wasted because he doesnt see the bigger picture. Best described a s afantastic 5 aside player. He does score goals and can gets nasty when wound up - aka Ben P.
Them other 2 options for the 10, Pollard and Nolan, are similar players to each other and would sit deeper and allow Adam to play forward. Pollard has a great range of pass and plays with his head up - he just doesnt always like a tackle (a bit dj ish). Nolan is not someone i've seen often.

The front 3 - two wide and 1 central - will be

11

11 Ethan Walker - youve heard the hype and he has great potential... two footed, loves to take people on; loves to shoot. Can be a hothead; can be very selfish....often doesnt see teammates better positioned BUT when he is on form he is a real handful and will attack at pace.. Only 16 remember.
9 will be Potts. A hardworking Sean Maguire.... not overly tall but growing, great pace; good physical strength but npt in the best scoring form of late.... Could be a real handful in his 2nd season next year but has become 1st choice CF for this team and will run all night - can play left wing too.
7 will probably be (in my opinion) Jez Jolley (unless Dolan is played wide right and not in midfield). This is where Jolley has played most of the season -except the Norwich game - and is probably the tallest in the team. Again very left footed (on the right wing) but not overly fast. Loves to cut inside onto his left and cross or shoot. Probably the best header in the team - in defence or attack - and takes some of the deadballs.
He works well with Simmons behind and Dolan coming short from the 10 in little triangles.....

Of the subs, the only other likely to play (other than the ones above who dont start) is Darren Brannighan the 6' 2" CF who has slipped down the pecking order and doesnt look a great player - but he is more effective than he appears (youll udnerstand if he comes on) and does score goals.

Style.... #Just like the first team - they will pass it around on the deck, they will go across the back 4, into midfield, try to bring the wingers into play, pass again; look to play the killer pass OR rely on Walker getting into the box. Can over play - might panic on the night - but lovely to watch when it comes off...

You can gaurantee hard work and good football.... just not always the end product and killer finishes.....

The only worry is the defence without Armer is very inexperienced with only 1 of the back 5 second year YT's. Baxter is often needed to cover their gaps.

This said I have no idea how good Bury are !

Enjoy

paddy . at least now I know you are going I can blame you if we lose.....saves me having to blame me !!especially as I didnt see the Charlton game so wasnt the lucky mascot you were !

Many thanks sports, much appreciated

Above chance after a good safe by Corcoran who managed to get his hand to s shot and just keep it out but one of our players, couldn’t see who, instead of putting it out for s corner passed it back to Corcoran who had to pick it up due to being under pressure

Their no 11 is very good, footwork and speed. So far he is better than Ethan Walker. Baxter and Dolan platting well for us

Walker is being well marshalled by their defenders whilst their no 11, Siriki, seems to have more trickery

As soon as Walker has got the ball then there are two or three Bury players straight on him whilst we are giving their no 11 more space.

Bury have had the more clear cut chances but they have been few. One goal for either team could be enough in this one
