RIP Astro

Rock against Thatcher gig that one. Look at that, people together of all backgrounds enjoying music. Ska and reggae did that back then.

If you went into The White Bull in Bamber Bridge in the early 80's and put anything other than UB40 on the Juke Box, you were not from Bamber Bridge and the pub fell silent. Most people were generally shown the door.

Great band

Only scrolled down to this thread today, and had to dig out my copy of "Signing Off", and put these Lyrics up on here as a Tribute. IMO Timeless.

FROM THE LAND OF SHADOWS
COMES A DREADFUL SIGHT
LADY WITH THE MARBLE SMILE
SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT
SEE THE SCOURGE OF INNOCENCE
SWINGING IN HER HAND
HEAR THE SILENT SUFFERING
THAT ECHOES THROUGH THE LAND

FROM THE TOMBS OF IGNORANCE
OF HATE AND GREED AND LIES
THROUGH THE SMOKE OF SACRIFICE
WATCH HER FIGURE RISE
CRINGING IN HER SHADOW
THE SICK THE POOR THE OLD
BASKING IN HER RADIANCE
MEN OF BLOOD AND GOLD

IN HER BLOODY FOOTSTEPS
SPECULATORS PRANCE
MEN OF DREAMS ARE PRAYING
FOR THAT SECOND CHANCE
ROUND HER VACANT FEATURES
GILDED SERPENTS DANCE
HER TREE OF EVIL KNOWLEDGE
SPROUTS A SPECIAL BRANCH.

Lyrics to "Madam Medusa", the 45
enclosed with the 'Signing Off' lp
that I bought way back in 1980.

Absolute class, and could be updated today in relation to the
current incumbent of #10.

Just my opinion.
