Robbie Brady

The case for using Potts at right wing-back is that his defensive contribution is very good and that while his own attacking contribution is limited it does free up Browne to play more centrally.

But Brownes been pretty average "more centrally" for quite a long time....

I wouldn't rate him as highly as McGeady, who along with Fuller was the best I've seen at Deepdale since Sir Tom, but they're different types of players.

His crosses are a bit hit and miss at times - or maybe it just seems that way because our strikers don't get themselves into the right positions - but I have to say he's been better than I expected, especially fitness-wise. Of course he's had the recent spell out but he's already made more appearances than in any season over the past 6 years.

Ideally, we could do with more pace at wing back but I'd say that with the experience he brings, he's worth another year.
I’d certainly put him in that bracket for me, as you mentioned they’re different players so I wouldn’t compare, fuller and McGeady are get off your seat kind of players but Brady positionally and his in ability to read a game is far superior than fuller or McGeady, different players for sure but certainly in that bracket of top players to play for PNE for me personally. Im a huge fan of Brady in all honesty. He’s quality just shines through our squad.

Brady doesn't rely on speed to get past opposition defenders on the outside and though he isn't a central midfielder he does like to wander more centrally at times so I think he could operate from the right. Fernandez on the other hand does need to be on the left. It is a bit unfortunate that both are left-footed - if one of them was right-footed we would have an obvious first choice pairing for the flanks.
Fernandez cuts inside every single time though, of the two I’d much rather he played on the right.

But he has shown that he can score and he might get back to doing that if a supply of crosses was coming in to a disruptive striker like Delap playing just in front of him. But I agree that in the absence of a specialist right wing-back Browne does as well there as you could expect from someone who is effectively a stand-in.

Fair point. I certainly think Fernandez deserves to be in the starting line-up and the only way I can think both him and Brady could be would be if one of them was on the right. Of course one tactic would be to have them swap over periodically during a match.

I don’t see the clamour to shoehorn Alvaro in because he has a bit of flair, Alvaro from what I’ve seen can’t really defend for his life.
Brady is the best player we have, he has to be the priority.

Our best player easily, I think the only reason we managed to get him here was due to his injury issues previously. Praying he can stay fit and is tied down for next season.

Said months ago he’s way over hyped

Been crap for months

Don’t want to see him back next season

I thought he was a really good pick up first half of the season. No idea what he was up to during the World cup break as he was injured and had some horrific cameos in second half of the season. Could barely pick up a pass in final third and then just gifted Swansea the fourth with that blind pass when there were still 7 minutes of injury time left.

Not sure why he was put on the right either. Surely on left to push Alvaro on would've been more logical?
