Summer 2023 : Transfer Window Rumours and Discussion

Think someone on here made a very valid point about looking to go to Benidorm later in the preseason programme. This would help ensure signings made in the window have more chance of being involved in a vital part of the build up to the season.
Yeah, I said that (others probably have too) because you want the majority of your squad together for the training and social side of those camps. We're not the only ones who've done it this year in the same position, so I wonder if it's something clubs will look at next year?

Depends whether he means youth players or players that can develop like Stewart

I’d like to go and sort a deal like Stewart for Billy Kounetio from Liverpool - let him learn from Hughes and Greg and he’d be guaranteed gametime when they both get injured
If they can get together some sort of structure that genuinely forms a development pathway to the first team, that could come in handy for our current youth players when they reach age 20/21 in a couple of years, the age when we traditionally just ditch them all.

Wonder if the appointment of Murphy is key to this - club highlighted his role as 'main focus will be on set plays and on the development of the club’s younger players within the first team environment', having a specialist coach for that transition period may have just brought a change in approach.

That had occurred to me too, especially with the appointment of Kelly as well as Murphy.

If Cannon is coming on loan or as a signing which looks promising with his appearance at Deepdale, one can only presume the deal is as good as done.
What might be the delay in getting it over the line and announcing itas job done?

The only reason Everton would recall him is if they think he's ready for their first team. They aren't going to recall him if he's doing well to then just loan him to another championship club

Just loan Stewart out to Blackpool. Let him give them a bit of hope for the first half of the season, recall him at the last moment in January, he comes back and fires us to the promised land whilst Blackpool fall away into league one obscurity.

You can't.

Clubs can agree verbally that they wouldn't recall him in January but all loans have to have a break in them.
I was under the impression that’s why Tella couldn’t be recalled in January from Burnley despite their awful league position

Seems like the bar has been raised in transfer fees, we are now competing with clubs that are prepared to fork out £259 million for a striker!😟

I said previously, it's the North End way, keep the fans waiting 😐
