I think it’s true that he is much more insular and less likely to invade/bomb. On the other hand, he talks a good game when it comes to bombing countries off the face of the earth with hell-firestorms.
So less likely to get involved in a conventional war than Biden - but IMO the chances of catastrophic nuclear war - whilst remaining small - are greater with an increasingly unstable and uncontrolled Trump at the helm. Take your pick!
A fair point but, as I said, it depends upon perspective. I live on the edge of the Middle East here, so we feel the effects of disruption and conflict in the area. Don't forget we had 1 million migrants/refugees landing in one year a few years back, many from Syria - and these give Erdogan the chance to use these as a threat if he doesn't get what he wants.

The Obama administration was culpable for a lot of that - and that's before we look at Kosovo and the Balkans, and Libya, where Hillary caused a lot of problems.

Thus, I see that as much more of a threat than nuclear Armageddon - you, quite rightly, have different priorities and concerns in the UK.

Brilliant 😂
I do predict (which clearly you don’t agree with and fair play) that Chelsea will be in and around major USA politics in the future

I definitely believe that prediction too to be quite honest.

I think its just ingrained in me to never trust a Clinton!

And Michelle Obama should stick to her campaigning, where she's done tremendous work. I just disagree with her opinions.

Though the recent peace deals involving Israel, UAE, Bahrain, Kosovo and Serbia probably go against that narrative.

As well as the historic meeting with North Korea.

And the improved relations with Russia.

Just the Chinese and the Saudis to go.

No, I don’t think it goes against the narrative. I think it is quite aligned in that he is less likely to get into smaller wars. I do have a concern that Trump has thrown some Arab states under a bus in order to broker some of those agreements though, so have concerns where they will lead but I am absolutely not an authority on that.

I don’t think that he deserves credit for the historic meeting with N.Korea. IMO that was an ego-massaging game for Trump - and a dangerous one where he was out-manoeuvred by a dangerous leader. Trump had already threatened to wipe out N.Korea - by implication involving an exchange of nuclear warheads - hence the other part of my narrative.

Although the thought of giving her the benefit of the doubt leaves me feeling rather queasy.

As Sepp points out above, the deal with the Balkans and the UAE, Bahrain deal, are massive in terms of preventing nuclear war.

I genuinely had no idea anybody thought he was out manoeuvred by Kim. Care to explain how you came to that conclusion? I could possibly be persuaded of your ego massaging comment, but don't think he'd risk the relationship with South Korea to do that.

Looks like Hunter is going to be linked to paedophilia. Joe has already bragged about getting a Ukrainian state prosecutor sacked who, it conveniently turned out, was about to investigate his son.

FBI have subpoenaed his laptop.

I’d be impressed if he could turn it on

... it just all got built up to be a big deal. Jong Un reeled him, played him like a fiddle and then spat him out. Talks collapsed very quickly and Jong Un was off with his aggressive rhetoric again.

Frankly, we don’t know what internal propaganda Jong Un got from those meetings- nor do we know what Trump let slip in his meetings with him. The guy is a law unto himself.

Only last week, a big military parade was detected by satellites - the technology that Korea has developed in recent years is frightening. Much of it tested for the first time at, or soon after, the ‘historic meeting

I think you're changing what happened to fit with your viewpoint.

Nor do we know what Trump let slip? I take it nothing otherwise it would have been international news. But you continue to imply whatever you want.

FWIW, North Korea haven't tested a long range missile since the meetings and have continually added on to their threats that they are prepared to change course should US sanctions ease.

Do you want to ease sanctions on a man who believes he's God and has continually violently postured towards the West?

Surprisingly, yes, Biden comes in to the right of figures such as Chavez.

You do realise any capitalist would be to the right of that scale?

Look where socialist Sanders is fgs, barely to the left of the line.

If you're going to fool yourself into thinking that Biden isn't a leftist, and hasn't moved further to the left to win his nomination then you're quite frankly barmy.

Have no idea if those allegations are true, but Hunter is a very dodgy character.

Whether it's Ukraine or Syria, a lot of problems and proxy conflicts around here can be linked to gas and oil. Hunter Biden seems to be involved in that up to his neck.

Let's just go with some facts.

Bernie has said Biden would be "the most progressive president since FDR." I'm inclined to believe his view.

Biden has promised upon election:
- aggressive action on climate change
- major police reforms
- circa $1 trillion investment in manufacturing
- free universal nursery schooling
- $4 trillion increase on taxes on the extremely rich

Seems like a left wing agenda to me.

Back to facts.

Bill Galston, ex deputy assistant to Clinton and a superb contributor to the WSJ, has warned him not to go too far left.

I would agree however, if the point you were trying to make, was that he's just another untrustworthy career politician.

Jesus wept, he is in no way, shape or form a "leftist" he's thrown a few soundbites out to appease the Bernie supporters during this campaign because he needs them to get out and vote, he's not making the same mistake as Hilary did. You're the only one fooling yourself, you don't even make sense, you've claimed half a dozen times you're no fan of Trump yet you're practically crawling up his backside.

Brilliant. Pointing out his positives and the obvious flaws of Biden isn't the same as support. It's simply providing context to my argument. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only lefty left with any ability for rational thought.

Read the above post and have a lovely evening.

Should have taken my own advice hours ago!

I think it’s YOU changing things- viewing it all through orange-tinted glasses 😁

Whatever Trump let slip would only be known by Trump and Jong Un - neither of whom are likely to publish it in the Washington Post. Clearly this is conjecture on my behalf but it points to the fact that the guy drops his guard and dismisses people who he feels try to control him (including people experienced in dealing with tricky diplomatic issues like this). Watch The Trump Show on iPlayer.

FWIW, it’s all well and good stating what N Korea HASN’T done since the meeting- but that omits to list the things it HAD done. Like a collapse in negotiations, ‘crucial’ long burn engine tests for ballistic missiles, a new missile - test launched from a sub. They continue to work on new solid-fuel technology rather than liquid fuel for ICBMs which would be much more dangerous.

Trump is a dangerous dunderhead - but do continue to imply what you want ;)

Oh dear. I had hoped for a better conversation but you just seem determined to “win”.

You are latching on to the one bit of my posts that was based on a bit of reasonable conjecture - which is conjecture based on FACT that he conducts many government processes in a highly “unconventional” way - dismissing many of the safeguards that that brings (he brags about this approach and it probably has merit sometimes). I also pointed you to a documentary- that gives further solid evidence. Really - to dismiss that as hot air is pretty weak.

Quite apart from me pointing out the dangers in his unconventional approach to international diplomacy, I presented at least as many fact as you - but you’re closing me down telling me I’m all conjecture and opinion and you’re all about facts and reason. Just listen to yourself 😔

Had hoped for an enlightening with someone who holds Trump in relatively high esteem. Maybe that’s simply not possible 😂

I’m going for my tea now. Bye.

In your opinion? In my opinion you're erroneous so given that fact would I be entitled to turn that around? Perhaps suggest you're demonstrating a clear inferiority complex?

In actual fact I'm perfectly cordial the vast majority of the time, you're one being consistently disdainful while providing absolutely nothing to negate anything I said in that post. Aside from offering something I never said at all.

Personally, I hope that my sarcastic humour or criticism come only when clearly warranted. Shakes head.
You called one of the nicest people Ive had the privilege to know a racist because she dared to challenge the narrative you were espousing. You crossed a line, that day, for me. I was on a short ban at the time which is probably fortuitous as I would no doubt have ended with quite a long ban had there not been time for my anger to have subsided.

You got away with that one but with others we have long memories. so cordial?

My arse!

Apologies if it comes across that way. Not at all, life's grey matter is where discussion becomes interesting.

Your original post where I called you out for implying was based on conjecture and opinion.

I won't deny you have since provided reason for your opinions.

I don't think you're grasping that I don't hold him in high esteem. I think the guy is a bit of a clown, has awful rhetoric which inflames situations despicably, and has badly managed the situation in Afghanistan. I just hold him in higher regard than Biden.

Enjoy your tea and evening.
