Be patient and you might see mom back in the White House in 2025!

🤣

Doubt that very much. I don’t envisage that to be his place of abode in 2025.

We could well keep hearing noises to that effect but it won’t happen. I expect though that the GOP might select an even more dangerous candidate.

Hasn’t Trump recently suggested his daughter in law might run?

By “political” instinct, I think that Trump was less inclined to deliberately start military conflicts. But the key issue that that overlooks imo is that Trump is a selfish narcissist- whose grip on sanity became more and more tenuous as the threat to his power increased. So what would be the risk after another few years of power? - facing a belligerent China and other antagonists?

I would say that insane, narcissistic, power-mad leaders don’t have a great record in this world! Add to that the possibility that his weird ego and “diplomatic” style- and we also would have a realistic possibility that he accidentally backed the USA into a serious unplanned international crisis.

For me, those two risks of serious (even global) war massively outweigh his apparent preference to engage less.

So…. US Republicans have sacked off Liz Cheney from her high-ranking leadership role (3rd ranking post in the House of Representatives) - because she said her party “could not stand for truth if it upheld Trump’s false claims he won the 2020 election”

Whilst she's probably right you'd think she'd have resigned yonks back on principle rather than waiting to be humped out.

I don’t think we can hope to know if that’s fair comment. If all ant-Trump Republicans did that, the party would be handed over to the Trumpians.
Fair to say that she’s been a vocal critic since the Capitol riots- and was one of the 10 Republicans to vote FOR impeachment, so this isn’t out of the blue.

I don't think that Trump has the monopoly on those that don't like their parties leaderships Reg........ But most of them seem to stay put, not to fight the good fight but in order to keep themselves living in the manner that they are accustomed to..... Other than a tiny minority the definition of a "representative of the people" has been majorly lost.

Agree with you about this - who was worse is a matter of perspective. From here, there is a strong argument that Trump was less likely to kick off a conflict in the East Med/Ukraine than Biden. making him less awful. They are a pair of horrors, though.

I'm not convinced the assumption here is correct, recall he had an Iranian general assassinated, reinvoked sanctions, and if John Bolton is to be believed, asked what a nuclear strike on Iran would look like. If that isn't an attempt to provoke all hell breaking loose in the middle east, I'm not really sure what is (present actions in Israel/Gaza excepted of course).

If you can't see the vast difference in the way the media has gone after Trump from day 1 and the way it has portrayed Biden from day 1 then I have no words.

Conservative TV coverage of Biden has been relentless out here, he's made out to be some socialist devil turning the US into Cuba.

Its just a different channel, same story, different face and agenda to attack.

Sure - there is a lot of dissenting opinion about this and legitimate debate, plus personal perspective.

For me, Syria, Ukraine, and Libya are particularly prominent simply due to geography and the fact that problems there very much spill over to us here. The record of the Dems in the Eastern Med has been poor over their previous term and consistently made things worse. Mainly due to Hillary, but Biden was also part of it.

That's not to say that Trump did a particularly good job of it...

She's suggested she might run for Senator in North Carolina in 2022. She has a rather acerbic tone, let's put it that way. Also accused of paying folk off to keep them quiet about the father in law, and her (allegedly) coke-fuelled asshat of a brother in law. She probably doesn't reallyknow who Eric Trump is though, he's kind of ignored, even though she's married to him ;)

Personally, I would not have voted for either of them if I was American - I refuse to vote for the least worst. Third party/independent, for me.

Unfortunately, the US don’t have a raving monster raving looney party.😂

Seriously though, voting for a third candidate can also be nothing more than the least worst option? That’s what I did at the last GE but there were only 3 choices, ie the main parties. I gave up at this month’s locals and spoilt my paper.

I may be wrong but I'm fairly certain there's plenty more Democratic supporting news channels than Republican.

I was once told by an American, who’d never been to the UK, that our media was controlled by commies. :)

Not sure about that, given fox controls almost all local news channels? You could be right, though my point was more that he's being attacked just the same as trump was, just a different number on the remote.
