The Belokon vs Oyston Court Case

Hey there. Blackpool FC fan here.

I've not seen much discussion on your message board about the ongoing court case in London between Valeri Belokon & Owen/Karl Oyston, and thought it deserved a separate thread.

Given what's at stake and the costs involved, this is likely to be the most expensive football case in UK history. It could also go a long way towards determining the fate of BFC.

I always believed Belokon was a 20% minority shareholder, although it has emerged that he is seeking a claim up to 50%, based on what he believes to be a gentleman's agreement with Owen Oyston.

I'm following the events in London with keen interest. Ten days into a 6-week case, I have already formed a view of how the case is proceeding, but obviously my opinion is very much biased where BFC & the Oyston family are concerned.

I was wondering if the more reasonable minded posters of this site, especially those with a legal background, would take the time to read the (lengthy) court reports from days 1 to 10, and comment back on this thread. They also give the reader a unique, fly-on-the-wall style access to the inner dealings of a football club.

The main players are:
Mr Justice Marcus Smith (Judge);
Valeri Belokon (VB) - case petitioner and Latvian minority shareholder in BFC;
Owen Oyston (OO) & Karl Oyston (KO) - case respondents;
Alan Steinfeld QC (SF) - OO Counsel;
Andrew Green (AG) - VB Counsel (from Clifford Chance);
Frazier Campbell (FC) - VB Counsel (from Clifford Chance);
Normunds Malnacs (NM) - VB employee, appointed BFC Director;
Karpars Varpins (KV) - VB employee, BFC Financial Director after NM;
Ian Cherry (IC) - Auditor of BFC and all Oyston businesses since 1989;
Rod Dyer (RD) - BFC Club Secretary;
Howard Belton (HB) - financial/tax advisor to OO for 30 years;
Anthony Dempsey (AD) - solicitor for OO & his businesses for many years;
Jim Rawlinson - ex-UK lawyer and OO advisor;
Rosemary Conlon - OO's secretary;
Peter Seddon - works for HMRC.

I'll be honest pal, we are simply not bothered. I was banned from your website for saying hello so go away.

Appreciate that. You are one of the better posters on here, so if you get a spare moment or two, have a look. The last few days in particular.

It's a massive amount of heavy reading relating to people of whom I have not heard and to a situation in which I have little interest.

I will summarise.

You have all backed Valeri as your shining 'tangerine knight' who is going to beat the Oystons, get rid of them from the club and then bankroll you 'back to where you belong'.

The reality is that this case is just Valeri's way of getting what money out he can before he bogs off back to Latvia.

HE COULDNT EVEN BE ARSED TO GO TO YOUR PLAYOFF FINAL!!!!!!!!!

At the end of this trial (although it may even settle) you won't hear from him ever again.

Belokon seems a decent bloke, with a strong moral compass. Yes, he might choose to take his money and run (and who could blame him?), but he does appear to have a genuine attachment to BFC and has hinted at joining forces with another investor - if that arrangement didn't include the O's.

I'm not surprised he stayed away from the Playoff Final - as many of us did - given the ongoing legal battle.

Even if we don't see him again, I'd still wish him all the best and hope any mortal blows landed on Owen & Karl from this case, could eventually lead to a regime change.

I think the O's have a case about him inciting the fans, He seemed more interested in talking to you than the club. He's using you as a tools (mind you he has quite a few tools to pick from) for his case. You seriously deluded if you think he has an attachment to your club. If he had any attachment, he would betaking action he's doing whilst asking you guys to support the club. Not using you to try and force the O's into a Corner. I hope the O's win, and you Glory hunters will shut up, becuse the O's are going no where and you need to get used to that.

And can I ask, who the hell moved the rock and released these Tangerine tools?

I'll get jack daniels to ban him later.

They won't make that inciting stuff stick. There's more than enough evidence to prove otherwise, some of which was presented by the Clifford Chance lawyers yesterday. Belokon tried talking to the club: the relationship broke down completely. The fact he still wanted to engage with the fans showed his ongoing interest imo.

I'm a changed person.

Let the Lashers roam freely.

You been hacked ? :rolleyes:

There's enough evidence to make it stick. He's talked to the fans, the Media, but not the club. The fact he still engaged with the fans, does prove an ongoing interest, it's called getting his money back and a profit. Any other interest he would be at Games, asking you guys to attend, he would put pressure on from within. You have a better chance of control within a club than out. So this proves your just a chess piece and he'll be gone soon enough.

Actually I'm not going to debate it with you. This was about gauging opinion, not me convincing you otherwise.

Suppose we will all find out soon enough.

Gauging Opinion? We couldn;t give a shit, we PNE fans. Were enjoy the entertainment, but thats as far as it goes, because outside looking in, we can see what a bunch of spoilt brats you have. I hope if we do get to the Prem, that our fans enjoy it and remember where we came from and who got us there. I don;t want to see us become a laughing stock like you guys have. Thats my opinion and probably that of many others.

Ha you are amazing. Can I ask if you are a girl or a boy. My guess is a girl and one of those nagging types.

So Belokon shouldn't be taken action even if he is owed millions? He hasn't asked the fans to do anything. He hasn't spoken for years apart from the court case.

You're absolutely off your rocker.

I didn't say he shouldn't, I questions the way and who he's using. I am glad you find me amazing, I am sure your holding back what you truely think, but it would prove me right. I'm Male btw.
