Uber

One thing that rankles me Reg is that the Uber drivers that operate in and around Leyland mainly come from the Manchester area ...........

The problem is that you only find that out when the driver turns up... The last 3 that we had have come from Salford, Wythenshawe and Oldham.

Thereby taking business off more local drivers , although having said that, a lot of the Leyland taxi drivers are from Blackburn or Burnley
My last local Uber was from Buckshaw Station after midnight having come back from the airport last Thursday......driver was licensed in Wolverhampton!

Dunno why anyone wouldn’t have an Uber app on their phone.

Often very handy on holiday too

This is the same day that fake taxi driver rapist got done too, right?

There's a few operating in Preston which are registered in Wolverhampton. Seen some round Lane Ends.

Think my last three have been registered in Wolverhampton, did think it a tad odd.

As has been pointed out elsewhere though, most taxi drivers I ever came across were at the nearest registered to Blackburn and Bolton anyway, so I can't say I'm that mithered.

I tried getting an Uber in Leyland on Sunday but it wasn't finding me a driver.
I ended up booking with Avacab (Leyland Taxis) using their app, which is actually a very good app. You used to pay on there as well during Covid, but it's back to paying in the car now. The cost of my journey was £2 more than the price Uber were predicting.

Uber's been around for yonks here. Problem is that during busy periods the prices do go up, sometimes ridiculously so and a lot more than a normal taxi would cost.
They are handy though, if you wake up with no memory of getting home you can check the app and see where you got picked up 😆

Quite a few Wolverhampton taxis operating round Oldham of late, is everyone on leccy bikes or horseback down there?

To keep it on an Uber theme, have heard adverts for booking train tickets through Uber now.

My brain hurts, please can someone explain it to me.

Yep. The safety of Uber and similar companies is an even bigger benefit that the cost and convenience.

I'll stick with Millers, just around the corner from me.

About £4-80 - £5 to town, sorted.

Never had any issues with Millers, always turn up a good 5 minutes early, no excessive waiting.

Anyone else used Uber yet in Preston? Used numerous times when I've been in Manchester and London but on Saturday I used it first time in Preston. Less than £9 from town to Broughton, was about £13 when I last got a Millers for the same journey.
PNE sponsors for years- decades even .
