Well, can we make it into a play-off place by end of the season?

When they played at our place earlier this season I was told that the wage bill for the 7 players on the bench was.......wait for it......over £40 million pounds.

Quite a few interesting games in midweek, with Brentford and Hull having difficult away trips (as well as ourselves!).

Games to look out for in this midweek round of fixtures, plus a few predictions.

Tues
Bristol City v Ipswich - Draw, Ipswich are down but got a good result against West Brom, fancy them to do the same again
Sheff Utd v Brentford - Home win, Sheff Utd looking very strong of late, have collected the same number of points over the last 6 games as us
Bolton v Sheff Wed - Away win, despite Bolton's win at the weekend they'll struggle against a much more solid Sheff Wed team under Bruce

Weds
Birmingham v Millwall - Home win, Millwall sinking fast and Blues will want to get back to winning ways.
Derby v Stoke - can't call this, both teams inconsistent of late. Draw maybe?
Norwich v Hull - Home win
Forest v Villa - Good wins for both at the weekend, good thing is one or both will drop points! Draw.

If that was to transpire, and we were to win, we'd be 2 points off Derby in sixth. Let's not get carried away, one game at a time...

3 from 3 so far!

sf, I bet there are some Bristol City fans saying "trust our team to balls it up" and they'd be right.

It's football all over and part of the attraction.

One thing though: our players will be working hard tomorrow to get a result.

Hoping for a Pearson stormer tonight, we'll beat anyone in this league when he's on it.

The important thing is AN has the experience of succeeding on a run in.

I’m sure his preparation will be second to none, so it’s down to our players turning up, and a bit of luck.

At this moment in time we must be one of the feared teams in this division because of the run we are on.

There are so many variables ,so many teams in the mix and taking points of each other, clubs bottling in, local derbies to produce freak results, clubs scrapping for survival, and as the intensity builds probably more desperate tackles producing red cards and injuries.

I just think it’s so good we are in there amongst clubs which have spent eye watering amounts on transfers and wages and matching them toe to toe.

I just want to enjoy the ride , let’s see where it takes us.

And as for WBA and the manager situation, sacking him at this point in the season with them in 4th spot shows how desperate and ruthless that clubs owners are, I can only see out of work managers who just want the dosh taking that job because you can see the tightrope you will be walking. I think AN is far to clever to take that.

If we win on Saturday, we'll be 6th if Villa don't beat Boro, or 7th and 1 point off 5th if they do. We've just got to find a way to win at home.

I hope the fight we showed in the second half tonight carries over into Saturday and that two days rest doesn't affect us adversely. Confidence should be good and two early goals wouldn't be amiss ?

Hope Gally's OK. Browne? And Storey wasn't walking too freely towards the end. At least Brum haven't had an extra day's rest.

Just guessing, Reg, but Gally looked to be in the worst shape. Fingers crossed he's ok for weekend but I expect the worst.

Would just be our luck for an injury crisis to hit just as we get within reach of the play offs. Clarke, Potts, Barky, Gallagher, Browne, Storey plus the long terms.

Thought Gallagher was awful last night apart from the goal.

I imagine we’ll line up like this on Saturday.

Rudd

Fisher
Storey
Davies
Hughes

Pearson

Nmecha
Potts
Johnson
Barkhuizen/Barker

Maguire

We're 40/1 to get promoted, I had £10 on it last night. Somehow Brentford are 25/1!? Forest 20/1, Bristol City and Derby 12/1, Villa 9/1, Boro 7/2, West Brom 5/2, Sheff United 4/7, Leeds 1/6 and Norwich 1/10.
