I decided to sign up for lookaftermybills, they've just emailed me to say they will switch me to the cheapest deal they can find, which is £26 a month more than the cheapest I've found in less than a minute of searching, thought it sounded too good to be true and will be cancelling the service
Its in their interest to switch you as they get commission for doing so.

As I said earlier in the thread check out quidco, energy firms will often be on there and you can get the cash that lookaftermybills would have got.

I won’t use Quidco etc. I see them as bloodsuckers taking money out of the economy for doing sweet FA.

It might feel like easy money but ultimately that money will come from the consumer base as a whole.
I use it all the time on whatever purchase I make.

Basically Im a tight bar steward and constantly looking to get the best deals possible. Quidco is one way of doing it. I figure the money is better in my account than an online retailers, especially the bloodsucking energy companies.

Like when Bulbs "refer a friend and we'll give you both £50" offer is being paid for out of your and your friends monthly direct debits? That sort of zero added value.......?

I assume Quidco say to Energy Company A - “Where we introduce new clients, give us 4% of the turnover and we will give half of it to the client as a discount”. This makes Energy Company A more competitive - so Company B, C and D sign up - and in principle all energy customers sign up to QuidCo or rival schemes.

So in principle, these “marketing” schemes just muscle in on an entire industry and just cream off 2% of turnover for doing nothing. They are parasites, bringing no value - and @raefil - I don’t think they fit well with socialist values- despite the short-term money to be made.

That parasitic scheme is IMO fundamentally different from promotional schemes set up by individual companies for their own benefit (even though some of those schemes annoy me too!)

We use Martin Lewis energy site, always shopping for the best deal. Currently £165 per month, with People's Energy. Just received another email from them today with another deal.

We have a 4 bed detached and pay 181 a month with the peoples energy company. All very socialist here.

About 120 of that is electricity which considering we have gas central heating and hot water I find impossible to fathom. No idea what is using all the power up. Have bought a contraption that is supposed to tell you what each plug socket is costing per hour but everything seems to be ok individually, but collectively it is way too much . Convinced a neighbour has a feed somewhere. Any ideas most welcome.

switch everything off, one by one and check your meter on each switch off. Keep going until literally everything is off and see if its still registering drain.

IMPORTANT ADVICE.
Join a an energy managing platform as soon as you can. I'm with Manage my Bills. They use algorithms which are constantly searching for the best deal for every.individual.
When a cheaper deal is identified your supply is changed automatically. I've been with them for about 3 years and I think they've switched me 3 times each time with a cheaper tarrif.
My current supplier is People's Energy which is a Scottish company. About £70 a month and all renewables deal. There is no reason why everybody can't join a similar scheme tomorrow.

not heard of manage my bills, but guess they're the same as lookaftermybills, as i posted earlier in the thread, i tried to use them but they tried to switch me to a company ive never heard of and a tariff which was more than I'm currently paying so cancelled the switch and will stick to doing it manually
