Confirmed An update from the chairman.

A 3 million pound footpath ? Bloody hell that's dear. From memory ( I could be wrong ) that is how much Craig claimed they'd handed over to the council...
It's not clear - from the slippery Ridsdalese that the minutes are written in - what the "£3.5m... for allowing work to happen" actually paid for - it could just have been a pre-requisite to getting the house building started on the site.

From the minutes:
  • CH stated that the club did have every intention of building the £12million training complex and that perhaps fans didn't know that after gaining planning it took another year for the local authority to sign it off. This took the club to the end of 2018.
  • CH stated that in 2020 the current training ground came on the market and the club bought it.
  • CH reiterated that from the beginning the intention was always that the houses would be built first to fund the development of the training facil ity and that the housing development at lngol is still not finished.
  • CH revealed that £3.5million had been paid to the local authority for allowing work to happen and raised the point in the supporters' letter regarding the parkland on the site. CH confirmed that the parkland is opened as promised and there is 50 acres of parkland with pathways, seats and ponds and was done first and paid for.

Got you ........... The bit in bold hardly fits the description supplied to us by BPIG though!

The Kop was the traditional home for home fans for a hundred years or more.

At the time of the move crowds were quite low.

We only moved to the Town End because John Beck saw that a few hundred away fans in the smaller enclosed space appeared to sound louder than two thousand home fans tucked right at the back of the deteriorating Kop.

It seemed a good idea at the time but it now just seems to be driving a wedge between the fans if this forum is anything to go by.
oh for someone as radical & forward thinking to take charge now, how everyone laughed at his physical fitness regimes/ cold showers & pasta before games but he put bums on seats (without cheap prices as an incentive)

Absolutely - but emotively its just sitting there not serving the club or its holding company a tangible use?
It’s sat there as it the new training ground was integral to planning permission being granted for housing on the adjacent land. They don’t have planning permission for anything other than a training ground on that particular part land. It sits on the Balance Sheet as an asset valued at £1.4m.

Unless a potential new owner wanted to build a training ground on the land, it would be deducted from the selling price and would be transferred to Grovemoor.

This is almost certainly what would happen in the case of a takeover, a new owner would simply find a piece of land at a cost significantly lower than £1.4m on which to build any hypothetical new training facility.

So does this imply that eventually if the houses get built there could be some money available which would have been used to build the training facility? Presumably minus the cost of buying Euxton, but could still be a couple of million to help balance the budget.

You'd like to think so, but the very next lines in the minutes are as follows, and that last line suggests to me they've already put all the money in they intend to:
  • CH stated that no profit has been made from the site yet, but there will be once the houses are fully built, hopefully in the region of the amount the club were going to spend on the training complex. CH outlined that the family has spent five or six times that amount on the club since planning was granted.
And a little later on:
  • CH highlighted that the funds that would have gone on developing the training ground have already gone in to the club over the years. Unfortunately it's just not something supporters can physically see.

Lower than a snakes belly.

I see. So that's disappointing, but is almost certainly also true.

The image now seems to be in sharp focus. The decisions are about reducing the amount they have to put into the club whether this be as loans or more typically shares.

It scares me from a footballing perspective, though I do feel long term reducing our reliance on such funding has to be a good thing - because the status quo is risky. I just hope they explore other pathways to get there (youth development, player trading, commercial income etc)

If I’m being kind I would say that stance is disingenuous.
