BBC Radio 2 In The Park

I'm a big fan of the banner of death across the top of the page. A sideways scrolling list of death and misery from around the world.

At least one of those deaths makes me click
it every time as well.

“Music star dies suddenly aged 36.”

I have no fucking clue who the music star is. Every single time!

One or two factual inaccuracies and quite annoying presenter, but he does pretty much have a handle on where we are as a club. Sadly, I didn't find much I could disagree with.

Potenitally good news if this gets the go ahead

It should be a 5k - 6k arena.

The jump from the 2k Apollo to the 20k M.E.N. and 23k CO-OP is too massive a leap for many bands trying to bridge that gap. Liverpool has the same issue with their smaller venues then the large arena (M&S).

We'd fit in perfectly as that bridging gap in the NW.

Gigs, Comedy, Boxing, Theatre, Conventions.

M6, M61, M65, various Rail links already there for those who need to travel. A decent local age demographic and of course, it's now a bona fide student city.

Lastly, we have plenty of hotels in the area.

7 years to get this done, with or without private money.

I'll even suggest a name - The Guild Arena.

Yep it’s desperately needed

Now all we need is for those rails links to work. Hopefully someone with a brain gets a grip of the network because it's a total shambles at the moment.

The city needs someone like Sacha Lord in a role similar to his Night Time Economy Adviser role for Greater Manchester. Sure he makes a lot of money himself, but he really does promote Manchester and has the back of the entertainment and night life industry. Won't happen though. As with the football club, those who run the city are stuck too far in the past.

Maybe we don't after all.

Things like this don’t help our cause.

Preston is the worst funded city for creatives in England, according to a new study.

As Prolific North writes, Berlew’s Creative Funding Report analysed Arts Council England funding to find out how much is spent annually per 10,000 residents. It also looked at funding available from councils for arts development and community events.

These two factors were combined to give an index score out of 200, indicating a city’s arts funding impact.

First-placed Manchester’s overall index score was 177. Preston scored three.

While Manchester benefits from £523,337 from the Arts Council per 10,000 residents, Preston placed bottom with £24,250 spend per 10,000 residents.
