I thought it looked more like a 4-3-3, honestly.

Pradic
Seary, Taylor, Best, Slater
Leigh, Mawene, Kamara
Neilson, Rodriguez-Gentile, O'Neill
They only ever play 3 4 1 2 ......with wingbacks...

the one thing RL has done is have most of these lads train with the 1st team for a year or so.... and so now they are developing physically maybe they will play more too.

final comment on the new 'development coach'..... a few seasons back we had a good youth team.....OReilly; Baxter ;Walker; Dolan the Irish keeper being key parts off it.....
We lost the Lancashire cup final at Leyland and I think finihsed 2nd in the league.... Wigan beat us to both and then moved up to a cat 2 / u23's outfit....
I suspect Geldhart was part of that set up but I really think murphy was the likely head coach.... his teams won things!

I'm only saying how it looked from watching it!

What have I been saying since last season - we have an exceptionally talented crop of youngsters at the moment. Properly developed several of them could become the core of a really exciting team a couple of seasons down the line from now.

Ryan Lowe thinks giving a young lad 2-5 minutes at the end of a game is giving youth a chance, when infact it’s only a token gesture. Some of these lads are good enough to be squad players and play the odd half hour here and there. We have far too many senior squad players warming the bench and the stands, and they are hindering the progress of some of these young lads. We know they’re not ready for being thrown into the first team proper just yet, but they do need to be getting more experience under their belts than they are. Maybe this season, they will get more of a chance but I’m not holding my breath.
That’s the double edged sword of discontent though. Fans are crying out for 6 or 7 more senior signings, then saying the youth doesn’t get a chance.

Kamara was a 12 time WORLD champion kick boxer.

No wonder he flies into challenges, he could beat 12 shades of shit out of anyone.

Rodriques-Gentile gets brushed off the ball far too easily…. He needs to bulk up
He could take a challenge was very capable of dropping g a bit deeper and picking up the ball a good eye for a creative pass. My disappointing player was O’Neil. . He didn’t look like a player who been out on loan at a league side and was largely invisible.

Harrison and Fensome....

Welsh replaced Gally with U 16's but seems to have moved up to U18's too since the 3rd coach left.

Today they had a number of players playing out of position hence their passing and moving wasn't as slick as it often is.
Best is not normally a middle CB; Slater not previously a LCB before this season; Kamara never a LWB; Mawene not usually a sitter and FRG not used as a 10...
that to me is why they created very few chances for the front two.....who are also not normally a front two!!!

Ive no idea about the subs....
Sounds like they played drop the names in a hat lotto to select the team ..

To be fair the service to the front players was shocking....o'neill should not be playing up front his best position is attacking mid.

Had an enjoyable day out at Bury. It brought back memories of probably my last trip there, which was a play off semi final defeat in the 90's. Points to note - Had a flying visit to the pub near the ground, which is probably one of the worst pubs I have ever visited. I dont think it has been even decorated since my last visit and the beer on offer certainly hasnt improved. Gigg Lane is still a tidy little ground & it does make you wonder how Bury ever got in the position that they are. It's a long way back from the Northwest Counties. I wish them all the best. They had a tidy team , with the numbers 7 & 3 looking decent players. On to the game itself. A tame pre season affair it certainly wasnt . Our young lads looked keen to impress against their opponents who had the physical advantage, with some meaty challenges going in. What stood out was the number of lads prepared to run with the ball & commit their opponents. 3 decent goals & some stand out performances. Kian Best looked solid, despite their strikers looking to swap shirts with him most of the game, & he can deliver a wicked corner. Lewis Leigh looks like he is progressing to being first team ready & Kitt Nelson really impressed me with his running from midfield. Gentille showed some moments of magic, but looks like he needs a couple of seasons growing to be anywhere near the first team squad. I do really hope some of these lads progress nicely to the first team in the coming years

Nice report Bucky…..

Having watched most of the game on YouTube I agree with your observations.
