The new bus gate on Corporation Street is to be switched on later this year.
It will make getting to the railway station, by car, much harder.
As usual, there will be a lot of fines and chaos when it happens.
Don’t get caught out PNE friends.

When is a gate not a gate and when is it a street ?
Or even just a 'Bus Lane'

( Yeh I know it's next to Fishergate)

Seen the map St Caths not too bad but the opposite side, Folks from the penwortham side of town will have fun exiting the side that has abakhan because it’s no right turn there at the moment.

How the hell are folk supposed to access the shops on the retail bit, abakhan and poundstretcher, st Catherine’s? If Friargate is closed to traffic and corporation street is bus only?
Looks like you can get to the entrance to the car park of abakhan from Ringway, I think this gate thing starts at the knocking shop.

You have to access that end of Corporation St, to get to those shops, from ringway like Mark says.
For e.g. anyone coming from Lane ends would have to use strand road or Ashton street/ Wellfield Rd to get onto Guild way/Ringway. Anyone from Fulwood would have to use Garstang Road/North Road to get onto Ringway.
All traffic is being diverted away from the university area, and onto, an already congested, Ringway.
With luck, they will sort the traffic lights out down that end to get the traffic flowing. But don’t hold your breath.

Getting out though? There’s no right turn at the moment, you’d have to go left, then first left, which takes you to marsh lane, where it’s right only, then left then you either go round the houses to get back to ringway or they are going to route that traffic down Fylde Road and if folks want to get back to Penwortham from there, it’s onto an already busy huction at Fylde road/ watery lane
I assume they'll have to make it open to a right turn, i think its only left turn only due to the amount of traffic on Corporation Street, the bus gate will remove most of that traffic

You underestimate the stupidity of councils of every political persuasion!
Yeah both tory run Lancashire county council with the ridiculous state of the roads and Labour run Preston council with their woke agenda and fantasy ideas like community wealth building are both shit. Personally think local government would be better run with everyone as independents.

What 'woke' agendas are these? Fucking sick of this term.

Id embrace it, its basically aimed at people who actually give a shit about their fellow human beings.

Cottams a Tory so I can understand him

I say tory but he does appear to be one of the recent influx of people supporting them, they arent really tories but they align with the rhetoric that this group espouse. 😉

I could, of course, be wrong

Ever since being able to vote (if I've bothered to vote) I've voted conservative because I would say I'm right of centre and up until the last couple of years the majority of the Tories policies I could get behind. It also tied in with Labour being what I would consider extremely left wing and not something I could vote for.

Economically I could vote for the current national Labour party however I don't trust Starmer at all, so would I actually vote for them, I don't know.

Preston Labour I still consider to be very left wing and hold views economically and in other areas I just don't agree with so whilst they still lead the local party I just won't even consider voting for them in local elections.
