Fair play to Trump for welcoming Bill Maher for dinner in the White House. Maher reveals some very positive sides to Trump’s character. I’m not surprised actually, but it probably leads to more questions than answers.

I would say that for every one of us who spends time on this thread- whichever side of the debate - it’s a must watch.

My opinion is I wouldn’t read anything into it at face value (though I’ve not watched the whole show). The thing about malignant narcissists - which Trump undoubtedly is - is they can be extremely charming when they feel the need to be. Like, really charming. They are experts in manipulating people. I suspect Bill Maher responded in exactly the way Trump hoped he would.

In short. World’s biggest economy, a supposed ally, arbitrarily imposes unfair tariffs on the UK, badly damaging our competitiveness.

They then offer to negotiate a trade deal to remove said tariffs. And insist that we change our sovereign laws on a topic that is zilch to do with trade - or they will continue to damage us.

The US woukldnt like it if any other ocuntry went to them saying they'll remove tariffs as long as they change their laws, how about we say no unless they change their gun laws? Somehow doubt they'll like that
