Current location of North end fans

off for a 5 day jaunt to watch Scotland V Wales at the egg chasing, instead of Edinburgh 4 of us are off to Javea to a very nice apartment by the harbour, sports bar to watch the game around some great food and local bevvy, this is at least half the price of 5 days in Edinburgh including flights, apartment, match day tickets, car hire and parking!!!!

I’m heading across for the Edinburgh v Ulster game in May.

The hotel is excellently located near Haymarket station although it looks like it’s seen better days. Around the 1890s…

get yourself into the Diggers bar (Athletic Arms) for great beer, if you fancy a trip to Morningside the Canny Mann has a superb whisky offering, the Cafe Royale at the opposite end of Princess St is a great boozer too, Mathers Bar at the West End is an old traditional bar where the ladies is a bucket oot the back!!!!

Thanks. Some cracking looking pubs there.

Currently in Perth Australia for three weeks got to know the score of Norwich game in Doha airport while connecting to Perth.
Are you gonna go to Rottnest Island? Great place. You can hire bikes to go round the island. Watch out for the Dugites though (snakes)!
Fremantle down the road from Perth is nice too, go to the Little Creatures brewery for cracking beer and pizza.

Yes we are going to the island next week on Saturday going to watch Aussie rules game staying near coogee beach so not far from freemantle.

"Looking forward to the Carretera Austral through Chile!"

I would be very interested in your thoughts on life in Chile - safety, cost of living etc

Enjoy!

Spent a little time already in Chile on Tierra del Fuego and can say it surpasses Argentina in terms of infrastructure and food. Been really impressed in the limited time I’ve been there.

Argentinians are fantastic people but their country is a bit of a mess.

Should say as well that my friend and I haven’t felt unsafe once in Argentina, and we’re obviously carrying a fair bit of expensive equipment on us most of the time. A lot of other bike travellers say they feel comfortable leaving their bikes out in the open more often than not.

The strange thing is, though, that Argentinians are utterly convinced that their country is dangerous beyond measure; virtually all homes and businesses in the bigger towns and cities have protective bars in front of them and on the windows. You talk to people and they are so keen to impress upon you how careful you need to be. We’re tourists, so there’s obviously a lot we don’t see and places we avoid, but I can honestly say I have never felt like my safety was under threat. They are so welcoming that it doesn’t even enter your mind.

Oh, and the final thing: they have regular signs, stretching from the very north to the far south, declaring the Falklands are Argentinian 😂 But we’ve experienced no aggro yet!

This was meant for @Vodsel
It can vary wildly in Argentina. Sometimes you can get a lot of bang for your buck, other times it’s on a par with the UK and there are even times where it’s more expensive. A lot of it depends on location; in Ushuaia, for example, prices are vastly inflated compared to less touristy places.

It’s definitely not cheap, let’s just say that.
