Economic migrants or refugees?

A far bigger contribution to the rise is an unprecedented uptick in immigration, coupled with a provincial populace who feel scorned and. ignored by a comfortable metropolitan set.

I’m actually quite proud that the far right are relatively unsuccessful in England when compared with Europe. Given the regional wealth disparity, it’s quite remarkable.

The perception of damage it causes is the problem. The reality of the problems caused are a million miles away from people seeking a better life.

Thats where fake news wins the day.

We agree on that one, in fact Id go as far as saying its the middle that are the real problem in
world Politics icluding the wars we continually see.

Not sure I agree about that. I think being a centrist is a good thing, provided you are prepared to truly listen to opposing views and accept them. The problem we have is that “centrist politics” is being misrepresented. For example, Starmer isn’t centrist, he’s centre-right.

Id put him a little further than centre right, even further than the old "One nation," tories.

I agree. A lot of what he’s done, had it been Sunak’s government, would’ve been rightly ridiculed and condemned. I said centre-right because we’ve seen the right press further in to the extremities. Cameron and May’s brand of conservative politics looks relatively tame compared to Johnson, pork exports and Sunak.

We are in for a rough few years ahead and, I fear, Starmer will end up with a four year term handing power back to the Tories.

I also believe that starmer is way more authoritarian than any PM thats gone before.

He has decimated the labour party membership of which I was one.

I was a member briefly, but stopped after Brown went. He was the last truly qualified person for the job. Starmer is a Blair tribute act, with none of the redeeming qualities.

I

i didn’t say that anywhere.

I commented alongside a link to an article, as I have variously, that unless we listened to people with sincerely held concerns then the far right would continue to gain ground.

In response, Raef alluded to dislike of Muslims and the rhetoric associated being akin to the nazi hatred of the Jews. He was right in many ways but I don’t feel that it really addressed my point; in fact ignoring my point did, I think, go some considerable way towards reinforcing it.

I simply stated that if he wished to mention groups who are casually demonised in the U.K. then white working class would give anyone a run for their money.

Not sure why you’re mentioning Muslim women, as I certainly wasn’t. I would imagine much of their persecution eg Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen etc comes from other Muslims.

Anyway back on topic… I don’t normally quote Owen as I think he’s afforded journalistic status beyond his intellect, however he was right about this…

You said “And if we’re going to have a competition about the most demonised group in society then I think white working class (especially men) will run any other very close.”

You think that white working class men are treated similar to Muslim women walking three steps behind their owner, oops sorry I mean husband.

That is just ridiculous!!!

I was referring to the media and entertainment industry portrayal of the. In the U.K.

I think this is the sort of thing you may be referring to but it isn’t in the U.K.
OR IS IT?

Disenfranchised young men being ‘recruited’.

In spite of what the BBC say, they are clearly not all white.

The BBC DID NOT say that though, did they. It was the organiser of the group that said this:

he claimed the group, which only recruits men who are "white and of European heritage", had "guys literally everywhere, in every region of England".

"We're trying to build a mass movement of strong, able-bodied, capable guys," he said.

He added that the group was "peaceful and legal" and wanted to avoid getting shutdown because its members "couldn't save their families and their friends and their people if they’re in jail cells".

Why are you blatantly misleading people with your posts these days?

Im coming back to this.

Explain the "disenfranchised young men," comment further please and Your comment, "Theyre clearly not all white," is also a puzzle because I see no evidence, in the article, especially the photos, that might back up that claim. So perhaps you can expand on this comment too.

Have you got access to their closed groups to enable you to know this?
