And our current squad of players have had their bad moments too. Pickford, Trippier, Maguire, Grealish, Foden off top of my head.

I would bet my house that Sven would do worse with our 2018-2022 squad of players, and Southgate would have done better with the 2002-2006 squad of players. Because as an ex player, he knows the pressures as an England player, and how to make it a good environment to play in.

I respectfully disagree.

John terry - shagged his team mates wife and is a racist
Ashley Cole - cheated on cherly cole
Rooney - cheated on his wife with a granny.
Ferdinand - got banned for 9 months because of drugs.

These current players are nothing like them. They are actually decent people. I like these England players . Not assholes and have a bit of decency about them.

Pickford - pub brawl in Sunderland
Trippier - banned for better irregularities
Maguire - alleged assault and blackmail in Greece
Grealish - 2 separate counts of careless driving, one in March 2020 in initial lockdown
Foden - sent home from international duty in Iceland, accused of other affairs, caught on video fighting backstage at a boxing night.

They're not all saints. Sadly no group of rich footballers are.

And again, as a compliment to Southgate, he would have done better with the group from 02-06 as he knows all about team morale. And unlike Sven, he knows more than 1 formation. Sven played 442 only, and even forced Scholes to play left wing ffs.

You think Southgate would have got the England team to beat Brazil. Deluded if you think that. Best international team this century.

Portugal 04 possibly.

Against Portugal 06 we was let down by the prick that is Wayne Rooney.

Southgate only knows one formation in the big games. And it has cost us. Sven failed as England manager but you are being disrespectful to his managerial record by saying he only knew one formation. Southgate would dream of the trophy cabinet Sven had as manager.

Hopefully we go one better this year but he has to be more ruthless in the big games. That is what cost us in the last tournaments and it will cost us that. It’s ok changing formation against Iran and Scotland and Ukraine but does he have the bollocks to do it against Argentina or France? Does he have the bollocks tk change things from the bench when things aren’t working. History suggest otherwise.

In short, yes I do. As he's made what was one of the worst England sides I've seen, and turned it around and taken them to stages of a World Cup and European Championship I've never seen before.

Do you think Sven would have done better?

Wow you are deluded.

You think we would have beaten Brazil in 02 - one of the best international sides of all time.

To put things in perspective we lost to Croatia in 2018. Bloody Croatia and you think Southgate would have got us beating Brazil with Ronaldinho and Ronaldo and roberto Carlos etc.

We weren’t even qualifying before Sven came in and we smashed Germany 5-1 in their own back yard. Could he have done better. Yes of course he could. He failed as manager. But don’t try deluding peopel in thinking that Southgate would have got us beating Brazil that day. No one would. They were unstoppable.

Had we played Sweden in 2002 instead of Brazil we would have reached the semi final so I think Sven would have done just as good as Southgate with the same run of games.

It used to do my nut all of that.
The FA made a big thing about employing a foreign manager gazillions to bring in a new way of playing. So they got Erickson who built all his success on 442 with a big man little man up top. It was nonsense, may as well have employed Warnock. He wasted all of that talent both tactically and by allowing the cliques and WAGs

I said Southgate would have done better with the 02-06 group. He would have done better than 3 Qfs in that period. His people skills may have even stopped Scholes from retiring at the age of 29.
