Congratulations to my Grandson, Ethan Jeff-Hall who following on from winning the British Championships last year has moved up an age bracket and just won this Seasons Junior European Championship for the under 16 age group (with one round to spare).
Giving him a ticket to represent the U.K. in this Year's World Championships.
A North End fan to boot.

What’s the progression pathway like through that? Any chance of him making it into single seater racing if he keeps winning?

There's a chance but he probably needs sponsorship, now going forward as it very expensive and he is up against families who have millions.
He is being watched though by one of the big teams and already gets some sponsorship from strawberry racing.
He is doing schoolwork that will lead to engineering qualifications, so he/we are hopeful he can get into motorsports at some level.
Even if he doesn't make the very top, he is on track to be a test driver, at least.

Very very cool

Winning championships is the way to go about garnering interest from smaller sponsors too, at whatever level

Thanks, yeah hopefully.
He lives a 10-minute walk from the old Heysham Go Karting track where Nigel Mansell won trophies.
Hopefully that's a good omen, Fingers crossed!
 
On a slightly different topic, I wanted to treat the kids to some Go-Karting - in Preston.
There were 3 circuits I identified;-
1. Near Walton Summit, very close to the Motorway , - now Burnt Down ☹️
2. A place called both 'Trax' & 'Phoenix Mini Moto' - located off Riversway, Ashton Marsh area , at the end of 'Chain Caul Road'. Now, they just 'entertain' Corporate Groups of 'Clients' for "Team Building / Bonding" ☹️
3. ''Kartal Motor Sport" All the way out at Much Hoole, Longton on Liverpool Old Road. It's a 'long' way away & I've not checked it out yet.🤔
Is there anywhere else handier around Town ?
Where does anyone recommend for a few starter sessions ?

Bit of an update on Ethan's progress to anyone whose interested.
He won the junior European Championships last year and qualified for the world championships, got through the heats and eventually finishing runner up having had to fight his way back up the field after getting caught up in an early melee ( The arrogance of youth being gutted he didn't win 😀 - i should have won grandad!!!),

He has been moved up to Senior level 18 months early, because of his 'potential' - he's only 15 in August, but finished 3rd this last weekend in the senior Rotax European Winter Cup, against 19, 20 and older competitors.

Doing well so far, but still early days in his overall career.
Thankfully as he is classed as an elite sportsman, his School (Queen Elizabeths @ kirby Lonsdale) are very accommodating - as he has to have weeks off when racing in Europe - although he has to do external works to stay within the curriculums.

Great to win a heat and get a few top 5 results, this put us in a positive position for the PreFinal unfortunately I got caught up in a lap one incident putting me back to P28, however I got back up to P8 (on track) and P6 after penalties …



And great to come away with 3rd in the final, not a bad start to my Senior campaign 💨

Hopefully this link works. Grandson just won an international trophy at Le Mans to qualify for the World championships in Bahrain later in the Year.
Sorry i don't know how to crop it but if anyone is interested in watching his race its the last one around 3 hours and 5 minutes. Interesting spiel from the commentator about Heysham Go Karting track of the 70's.
