Euthanasia - Dignity to die or a Step to far? (Mental Health)

I've said my piece on the politics thread ( I couldn't call it one way or the other )...... But even if it were cast iron legislation ( which it never is ) then by the time all the I's are dotted, all the " t's " are crossed and the arse covering exercises( understandably) fulfilled then the one who is suffering would be dead anyway.

I don't reckon it will take 6 months to sort it, I just posted about the anticipatory packs they rig you upto near the end of life which made me think, who deals with all the red tape associated with those?

For every good reason you can think of to support the bill, there's about 100 bad ones.

It worries me that it takes us towards the top of the proverbial slippery slope.

Makes me very nervous and I think I'd have abstained, given the choice.

There probably isn't any at the moment as it's standard practise for the relief of suffering on terminals but the documentation and stock take is very thorough ( district nurses took inventory in my mums case every 2 days )... Once legalised I reckon things would get a whole lot messier and lengthier,.

Me too

I was actually surprised at the number of MPs who had enough of a conviction to vote in either direction. 330 for and 275 against. Always thought there'd be a lot of don't knows.

Yep...... Maybe it's me but I find it very difficult to understand how someone can vote one way or the other ( unless it's purely based on a personal experience)......................... Says a lot about politicians in my view.

And growing a pair of bollocks and making a decision.

It was always going to happen. There would have been a lot of MP'S hoping others would have taken the rap for them.
