Still don't think it's a sending off, the ball was Seary's all day. In fact, it looks to me like took the ball before the Fleetwood lad even put his foot in. Strong, one footed tackle. Only case you could make is studs are showing but he's made such clear contact with the ball first, it's a non-starter. Never a red.

1/ I think we can agree it was a lunge.
2/ Was the force excessive?
3/ Was it dangerous?

People will argue both ways depending on how they like to see the game played. Personally I'm 50:50 as I like a hard tackle but don't like players getting injured. Overall I thought it was a poorly executed tackle (if you go in that hard you should make bloody sure you're in full control of yourself to remove all doubt) and a booking was perhaps the right decision but can see why the ref felt differently.

A lunge, yes tbf, but like I said, the ball was already won before the Fleetwood player even put his foot in. Fleetwood man was late to the challenge and went in halfheartedly and as all good youth coaches say, if you go in halfheartedly then you'll come out injured but I do think Seary has caught him but not enough to properly hurt the guy. I disagree with any thought that it was excessive and dangerous though, strong and dominating challenge. In fact, in 99% of challenges like these, you'd usually see the tacklers leading foot getting stood on. Yellow card at most. 5/6 years ago that challenge is absolutely perfect and wouldn't even have a second look at.
 
just dont understand why the ref didn’t have a word with the managers and get them subbed off. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an immobile ref in a pro match. He was very happy to stroll round and have an easy evening.

Earl looked far more composed than he ever did in defence for us.... and I've seen him a lot since he was 15.... could have found a decent level.

for those not present.... after the Seary sending off (and I believe it was a red card as he didnt need to lunge his whole body into the tackle, but has done it before when fired up).. but the REF did get their capt and Greg together to ask them to calm their players down.....

the 'battling' started 1st half between their No4 and Kian Best - who never backs away from a physical encounter - and continued at each set piece!

Those searching for an Arsenal connection will not find one even though Fleetwood have a player called Magno Vieira on the books. The ground's name derives from the nearest street, Highbury Avenue, and the red and white from a trawler with those colours

I’ll say it again, forget about the ball!!

Did he make contact? Yes he did.

At that point we’re into the debate about levels of force and levels of danger where your opinion is very valid and, again like i said, largely comes down to your personal views on how the game should be played.

The one touch football is good to watch, also the way we're moving the ball about and progressing forward is much better than we've seen the last couple of years.

Jim was my mum’s cousin and also grandad of a former best mate- I met him a good few times, he was a lovely bloke
