Fracking

Can you honestly say you believe there's any real possibility of a successful UK fracking industry in the face of fierce opposition, climate change targets, relatively low cost of US gas etc?

I'd prefer our public subsidies to be used to support more realistic energy solutions.
If we are concerned about reaching net zero targets by 2050 we need an upturn in renewables investment and design and a tighter control of the resources we currently need and use.
Dramatically reducing the need for imported gas by sourcing our own helps and we need to find a way to access it. I agree that 2.9ml tremors are not needed but they are not part of the plan.

The hyperbole and scaremongering around this heavily regulated industry is pathetic. I’ve seen a million times worse in many industries that get a free pass than I have in this industry.

YES

Because where there are big corporations involved and big money to be made, that will always win eventually

I may be wrong of course, but if I am, on that at least it will be a first
I am an 'Old cynic' in these matters of course

Only stopped unless, "Compelling new evidence is found," which will suddenly appear post election if they win.

Another blatant electioneering stunt? Surely not.

We have six weeks to enjoy one of the most compassionate and caring Governments we've ever had.

Major investment in our NHS and responsive to its citizens concerns over fracking. What next?

Does smack of buttering up the electorate a bit.. Timings impeccable.
The industrys never had a chance though with the vibration cut off set so low, my neighbours has had a fecking extention built all bastard summer and weve been buggered by vibrations..

Do think if it could be extracted differently it would be a bonus though.

Which could be the results of the flow testing they are currently undertaking.
High volume, good pressure and good quality gas is flowing.

Leaving aside the Politics of this

I would like to know the Actual Evidence that Fracking does create Earth quakes, at least on the Scale likely to cause damage to Houses and other Buildings

It seems fracking is OK in some Parts of the World, and in Countries that have a far bigger compensation Culture than Ours if things go wrong
Certainly if the actual Evidence is it DOES, then Fracking should be banned in any type of residential area
I can't help thinking though at least some of the people who are the most opposed are The Greens and other Climate change people
And for me they have YET to explain how we go about our Normal Lives when for instance the Wind and Turbines stop
Also quite a lot of people are not very happy about being near Wind Turbines of Solar Glass farms either

We had perfectly good supplies of Coal to last us many years, and surely Powers stations could have been made much cleaner for the environment given the advances made in every other areas

Evidence.. they start fracking at Preston New Rd and then a series of tremors happen in that area. Culminating with a 2.9 that was heard as a loud bang across a wide area and rattled windows and shock property from Warton to Cleveleys. It would be an extraordinary co incidence that tremors just happen to be in the area and at the same time as the fracking.. If that isn't evidence I'm not sure what is ?

With a wave of public anger in the area... The Tory MP for the Fylde has come out against PNR fracking and as we know Boris wants to keep and increase his MP's in the north.. so fracking gets banned (for now)

Plenty of the opposition aren't greenies.. not least the residents of some posh houses near the site who seen their properties become unsellable.

Good point.
That must be why we the country is constantly plagued by power blackouts.

No probs. Just a pre election delay, back up and running on the 13th Dec if the Tories win.

I have family living in the area and go past the site regularly.. a lot of folks in that area have worked hard to create a different view of the Flyde and fracking has created the impression that the whole area is polluted, industrialised and run down when actually it has a lot going for it. And yes I say that as a born and bred a Prestonian.
