Gentry Day 2018 - You Decide - Voting Closed

Well I know that John tracey did, the one whos death started all this. We were regular visitors to pubs on our travels. In fact a crafty Beer was part of the day for us, then, under age lads. 🙂

Half Price on the train and then the pub ha.

ok I know my mum; grandad; great grandad; uncles all didnt and they are the ones I am remembering - not least because 2 of them watched the invincibles...and 1 the cricket team before we played footy.

You will need to factor in replacement bus services to Manchester - there’s no weekend trains between Preston and Manchester until late Spring at the earliest.

Its a nightmare WLD......

They announced yesterday that there will be no weekend trains to Manchester until October !!!

That is a 5 month delay from the original completion date...........

not sure the fascination of 'having to find pubs' when the day is about remembering past fans - many of whom probs never went to pubs at away matches !

What is best for 'watching the game' and the 'experience'?

.

Which is fine and that is how you choose to celebrate Gentry Day.

However for me it is much more than that. It is about wandering about the city/town looking for bowlers, spotting suited folk. More than anything I love it when oposing fans or even random people ask us what it about and we can then tell them of which I have never had anything but posistivity in return. I also like to raise a glass or two to my friends who are no longer with us.

I agree there are issues at very local games with lads who are out for the beer and that is why I prefer London games, hence prefering QPR over Bolton. However, just because I like to meet up with fellow fans over a beer isn't a bad thing. For me it is very much Gentry DAY and not a Gentry MATCH and why it is best suited to an away game. I have no problem with folk like yourself who its all about the match, but for many others it isn't.

I am between the two of you. I am not a drinker either, it just doesn’t appeal to me. However, I love everything about London gentry days as you describe it’s just so pride busting when people listen, acknowledge and respect the meaning to gentry day.

All these years on and now I can I dont 🙂

Would rather step off the bus, wander around outside the ground and then go in see the match. Perhaps a Beer when i get home.

I must admit I'm heading that way ...... think Ive done enough drinking for 2 lifetimes, I don't bother much these days.

Club were due to be notified today if the Sunderland game has been chosen for Sky. Can't find any official announcement on Sky or EFL (hate that term) website of what games have been chosen that weekend.

Does that suggest that the Sunderland game has been chosen for Gentry Day ?
