Heckingbottom has improved us (fact)

Absolutely. We could still go down. An XG/XGa table is just indicator of performance over results/outcome. I'm just making the point we'd be unlucky for that to happen based on the underlying numbers.

On a side point, have a look at Rovers. Very similar XG to us but in the play offs. You'd put a fair chunk of cash on that not being the case come the end of the season.

Yep very lucky to win on Saturday too.

14 shots 6 on target for Hull.
5 shots 1 on target for Blackburn.

Xg for Hull - 1.58
xg for Blackburn - 0.58
 
Haven’t won in nearly two months. conceding 3 goals a game against absolute relegation fodder consistently. No win away all season in the league. An absolute shocking team selection against Arsenal in the cup, when 3 years ago McAvoy got lynched for doing the absolute same. Recent home games since the Norwich/Coventry games bar the second half against West Brom have been as crap and as flat as I’ve seen in years. Nice to see people losing their minds at Lowe doing some fist pumps after great wins, has now been replaced McCall doing the exact same when we scrape a draw and everyone now creams themselves. At least the XG is better now though because that’s what decides where we finish in the league and not points on the board!

I trust in Hecky.

Results aren't there yet granted however we need to remember that this isn't Hecky's squad.

Overall we are trying to attack more. People want more attacking football yet moan because we are conceding more. The defence isn't good enough.

Lowe was more of a 'yes man.' He went along with Peter because he knew he wouldn't get a bigger job than PNE. I feel Hecky will challenge things a lot more. For example, I can't see players like Ryan Ledson getting a contract at the end of this season.

I think if players like Ledson and Storey get a deal at the end of the season then it wouldn't be Hecky's decision, especially given his comments in the media about using it as an 'opportunity' having so many players OOC (and he is spot on with that).

Depends, he's still gonna be told 'you've got 3 million quid to fill out your squad'. If its up to him how many players that covers, he may well find himself quite comfortable with them as squad players.

The issue is, the likes of Storey and Ledson were signed as squad players in 2018, with the intention of improving and becoming a mainstay in the team. Neither of them actually improved, yet have become regular players! Such is the deterioration of our squad that, not only are they still here, but they've played regularly.

I'd like to think Hecky has more ambition than keeping those two around, even if it is as squad players, especially as their salaries won't be inconsequential.

Yep that's what I mean.

Under Lowe it was always 'we are overachieving, happy to be 10th etc' where as with Hecky he has already said he doesn't want to look for excuses.

We'll see. Heckingbottom was the pragmatic choice. And I expect him to make pragmatic decisions.

I don’t Ledson can be described as a regular. Storey in my opinion has improved this season. More adventurous going forward and defends well. With an experienced right back/ wing back he would excel

Storey is everything that's wrong with this squad.

Just driving back from Liverpool and had NTT20 on. They said everything about us screams 'mid table' in terms of underlying numbers and that's where Heckingbottom is probably taking us. Those lads do know their onions.
