Kevin Kilbane

Kevin Kilbane

That's very very lazy from Kilbane.

Bad journalism... not what I'd expect of a North Ender, no matter how he feels about the manager

As others have said, there is no mention of Simonsen in the article, so I fail to see the problem.

The article says:

Thumbs down
Graham Westley
I am not a big fan of his pitchside antics. I feel managers have an obligation to respect the game and other coaches because the job is hard enough.
He winds up opposition coaches and managers and late on Thursday night was using unnecessary tactics to try and waste time.
It was intended to kill the game and break up play after they’d gone 2-1 up. It was a tactic he used at Stevenage, but it backfired as Coventry scored two late goals to win the Johnstone Paints tie.

Fair comment I'd say, and no one accuses Simonsen of anything.

In fairness Kevin has said that "He meant the general antics of what happened with PNE in that last 10 mins. So I happily withdraw my comments about being specifically Simonssen he was refering to.

I wouldn't. Unless there were things shown on TV that weren't obvious at the ground.

It's bloody obvious that Kilbane has fired his mouth (and pen) off... then is embarrassed to find that Simonsen's injury is quite serious... and that he had actually wanted to come off.

So Kilbane's covering his arse, saying he was talking about something else. Yeah. Right.

What? A couple of goalkicks where the keeper walked to the other side of the box before taking... and perhaps a ball knocked "inconveniently" into space rather than returning it swiftly to a Coventry player to take a throw-in. Just like 99% of other teams would have done (and I think Coventry were slowing the game down, prior to our equaliser).

Because it's Westley, he's having a cheap shot... It is OBVIOUS that Kilbane was accusing Simonsen, but hasn't had the backbone to admit his mistake.

I just watched that last 10 mins, after we went into the lead. I see no time wasting whatever, the only time it was even mentioned was when Simonsen went down. There was nothing else whatever.

In his column accused Simmonsen of deliberately time wasting at the end of the game. Youd think someone who claims his first love is PNE would at least check out the facts before writing stuff like that.

A bit of respect lost for you there Im afraid.

He was a nob at the start of the game and at half time then at full time. Anyone would have thought hed have supported Coventry the nob.

You do know that the power of suggestion leads people into believing something that hasn't actually happened except in their own minds? I'm not GW's biggest fan, but some of the utter bullshit spoken about him does get me on his side. There is an element of our support, the football media & professional football people, who cannot wait to criticise or misconstrue anything & everything the man does. It sickens me to the core it really does. Lets hang him, put him on a bonfire, cut his heart out & be done with it.

Kilbane disappointed me. Seemed more up the arses of Cov than his own town team, PNE, at the end of the game.

Kilbane and the Sky commentators were Coventry this, Coventry that...... we have always been the inferior club in the media before Westley got here..... he has just made it worse

I must have missed all this Coventry this, Coventry that bias that others seem to have heard from the commentators and pundits.

But then this seems to be a regular thing whenever we are on TV according to some on this forum, as well as it being the refs fault we always lose.

I watched the game on SKY and did feel they focused on Coventry more so than Preston throughout the programme, but I felt Kilbane made some fair points when asked about PNE. I didn't detect any bias from himself.

Doesn't really matter though as everyone has opinions, most of our own fans appear to hate PNE!

exactly how I saw it - he will be interviewed in the LEP in a couple of years claiming his true love for his home-town team - how many games did he play for Coventry?

There was no bias, just the normal paranoia from North End fans who take offence at anyone who doesn't eulogise about PNE when on TV, radio or in print. Sky, The BBC and their pundits don't hate us, they don't give a stuff about us.

Fans do tend to have a bias towards their own team, its something Ive noticed over the years.

Gary Birtles eulogising over Leon Clarke as if he was a world class striker throughout the entire match was somewhat annoying

Thought I'd put this in again, guess who was summariser and calmly said without any hint of criticism that Gareth Barry bought some time via some gamesmanship against Stoke today on 5 live? I expect a full report on how Mancini shamed football much the same that PNE did against Cov in the JPT.
