Lancashire Cricket 2024

His stats for interest. T20 does seem a strength but I’ve read a Durham fan saying they thought he shouldn’t be batting as low in the order as he is and that might impact his first class figures.

Just seen this on a county championship group on Facebook, I would assume it’s true but obviously can’t verify it.

All Middlesex County Cricket Club members have just received this:-

1) What cricket will be played by the non host counties during the Hundred ?
This remains under discussion and will be discussed in 2025 as part of the wider scheduling of the whole game . However there is a strong desire by a number of counties, including MCCC , that all counties should move to playing hundred cricket alongside the franchise competition

18 year old and a 16 year old at the crease for Lancs!!

Bit different from back in the day when Athers came back from his first season at Cambridge Uni, he was near the top of the First Class averages and Lancs still wouldn’t pick him!! Rumour had it that a member stuck the averages from the paper on the notice board in the Pavilion

Keeping the young ‘uns in their place I suppose

Bohannon 13 dots from 15 deliveries, Bell with an utterly awful and ridiculous shot and 6 dot balls from 7( what’s happened to him?) both in the power play, whilst Fonseka shows the more experienced players how to approach the power play.

Like I said the other day, the intent is sadly lacking.

Flintoff caught by Athers' son for 88. Kesh Fonseca next top scorer with 42.

We’ve had Aspinwall, Stanley and Hurst for games - so it’s one of those or Green, who we gave to the 100.
Actually, it can’t be Green because he went to the Nottingham team nd Hurst hasn’t played in a List A game - so it’s either Aspinwall or Stanley.

I have zero interest in the competition, would switch over to Strictly Come Dancing rather than watch something I hold responsible for the ongoing theft of county cricket from members , but your post tempted to look at the teams 😉 . Very strange - many names I dont recognise - and only a couple of 'our' players in MO team yet we have so many out?- I assume they are playing for other circus tricks? Yes, I agree the T 20 team is far better!

There was I am told a very low crowd at the game, considering all the pushing, tv exposure, price reductions and the prime summer months, school holidays with decent weather. But I bet they had all the stands open- unlike the 'full house you cant come in' they declared when they shut most of the ground for a T 20 game!

The T20, when it was being properly run, attracted bigger crowds than this.

On one level I just want the competition to die on its feet. But I know the ecb will just double down and pour more in to it in terms of time , exposure and money. Taking more of all those resources from county cricket and Lancashire. They wont rest until either the whole of county cricket collapses around us or the 100 is a success. Sadly our management seem on board with this plan.

I have now concluded that the best option is to just flog the competition off to the Indians, on the strict proviso that it can never be expanded further. Let them play their circus at Old Trafford for those 3 and a half weeks, while we go to the 4 outgrounds to play the 50 over competition which I throughly enjoy. I detest going to OT when all that Manchester Original signage is up. Just take it down before you go and we return for some proper cricketk with a team we can all identify with please.
I did a bit of research…..

Livingstone plays for Birmingham
Wells plays for Welsh Fire
Wood plays for Trent
Mahmood plays for Oval
Jennings plays for London
Hurst plays for Manchester
Hartley plays for Manchester

County cricket as we know it is dying on its arse and it stinks !!

Actually, it can’t be Green because he went to the Nottingham team nd Hurst hasn’t played in a List A game - so it’s either Aspinwall or Stanley.
Hurst plays for Manchester…. Scored about 80 the other night.

Fonseca got 42 , decent knock…

I looked him up and he is only 18 and from Bolton…..

Much better, in some ways, today - but still no conviction from the top order. Bohannon’s shot for his dismissal defies belief, I strongly suspect he’s been trying to change his game to impress England and it hasn’t worked. Just go back to how you played when it worked.

Old Trafford relatively full for the ladies game this afternoon, nearly 12,000 and Stand D fully open - so presumably more for the men’s match. I’m not having it that the the men’s team is more attractive than the Lancashire T20 team, it makes you think what they could have done with the blast if they promoted it and had it at advantageous times.
