Lancashire Cricket 2024

I believe Barnard is the better spinner but you're right, Morley didn't get many chances.

Lavelle has also left.
Has Lavelle got fixed up? I had high hopes for him and Bell, but last season seemed to be a constant struggle, especially for Bell. Hopefully, Bell, can recapture his previous form.

Michael Jones has been signed on a 3 year contract, Cameron Green is back for next season and I think they are interested in bringing Anderson Phillip back , I liked the look of him last season ....

Was it not Chris Green? 🤔

Not yet. He’s a talented lad who’s not progressed as many thought he would. Maybe another county might give him the stimulus he needs, I hope so.

Ollie Sutton has signed a full professional contract for Lancs….

I don’t know anything about this lad, anyone in the know ?

So that is Barnard, Fonseka and Sutton all signed.

It looks like we are putting our faith in the youth long term especially with Rocky already playing first team as well…

In a perverse way I am looking forward to next season…..

There will be some new grounds to visit such as Derby, Leicester, Glamorgan and back to Canterbury ( had a great couple of days there this season ) , all depending on how the fixtures fall of course….

He played his one and only game in the 50 over cup at Blackpool. His first bowl was a wide. His second bowl was a wicket. His third and fourth bowls were dots. He got injured bowling the fourth one and didn’t come back on.

However, he hobbled out on immense pain as last wicket to try and help us win the game, showed some guts.

Was just checking the Sheffield Shield scores.

Lots of unfamiliar names there these days, although Chris Green is continuing his fairly belated red ball career with NSW.

Couldn’t help but notice that WA are opening the batting with Wyllie and Fanning.

Lancs doing it on the cheap again….. no big star signings.

Correct. We really do not have any money, especially for peripheral activities like running a county cricket team.

I asked the question at one of the meetings when the board were waffling in their usual self-congratulatory style as to how well run a club we are - as to whether we spend the salary cap. The chairman replied that we did.

I have since had it confirmed privately that we spend nowhere near the salary cap - we cant afford to . It was always fairly obvious that we didnt.

Wait, what?

This sounds familiar.

I got a booklet through the door the other day from Lancashire County Council and there was an article about the Farington cricket ground…

It stated that both squares are now complete and the outfields are developing on both Ovals…

It also said that a natural amphitheatre will provide enough room for up to 5,000 spectators.
