Match Day - PNE v Cardiff City - 18/10/20 - KO:12:00 - Championship

Norwich fans were right and Delia saw it through!

It's getting worst for us every season and maybe now is the time to make the change as things are starting to get a bit stale!

He is not prepared to make the changes especially at home when things are not working for some time now.

Danny Gabbidon ‘Preston played into Cardiff’s hands with those tactics’. This was a massive bollock drop by Alex Neil. Wrong team, wrong tactics, missed opportunity.
Three 1-0 home losses with a brilliant squad. Stop stifling them Alex, let them play!

Anyone know Neil's record against Harris? Seems to take the piss out of him every time.
We've certainly been done over the last 2 times and he lost to Harris on the first game of last season at Millwall. However the game at Millwall the year before that we were 3-0 up and 20 odd minutes and took the piss out of them. And we battered Cardiff under Harris at their place just before Christmas last season but missed multiple sitters.

We were nullified by Cardiff throughout the game and limited to a few efforts from outside the box until Stockley came on making a nuisance of himself. In all, we did not test their keeper enough and we did not make the most of our second half pressure. Cardiff were resolute and disciplined and took their chance very well when it came. Classic away performance and credit to Cardiff to pulling off the game plan.

From our perspective, why did we not play DJ/Gally/Harrop in a game which would have been perfect for them to unlock a low block. Why did we not crowded around Maguire and help him out against their big centre backs? Two questions around positional play. We had too much reliance on try to get the ball out long to Sinclair and hope he could weave something from out wide when really we want him to be ghosting into central positions for a goal. I really don't get why we never exploited Bacuna once at left back after Cunningham went off. It seemed like the obvious thing to do - put the pressure on a shoehorned leftback but we did not do it? We have a decent squad of players despite what we all say - please let the shackles off them and let them press high and attack the opposition.

We never looked like threatening the opposition or moving the ball quick enough to disrupt their shape and structure to give us more clear cut chances.

Damning of all though - no goals or wins at home this season so far.

That was depressingly painful to watch. 4 home games 4 defeats & no goals scored.

At least I didn’t have to suffer it in person.

This is gonna be a long hard season I’m afraid.

Historically under AN, for every performance we see like vs Brentford, we then usually see disgraceful ones vs Cardiff, Swansea and Milwall

We should have has bags of confidence going into today games, I did not see that! Piss poor from almost everyone. Riis looked good, DJ has to start on Wednesday. This season is looking like maybe our last at this level

Other clubs with the lowest budgets like Rotherham, Barnsley, and others wouldn't be sacking their manager after finishing 9th in the Championship.

We have had a poor start but I'm confident things will improve soon.

We won't be in the play off mix like last season though imo. Our recruitment policy makes that almost impossible.
Aye - to paraphrase a tipsy TH 5 years ago... "this season mid-table, next season down the bottom".

I’ve never read so much drivel. Get behind our players not slag them off. We weren’t that bad, there wasn’t much between us. Harry Wilson 4 mill player, who kept him quiet and out of the game ? They got the break and then defended well but we still made chances. That’s football. Get over it.

It was a poor game which they shaded.

4 home games & 4 defeats with no goals scored tells you all you need to know.

I thought Cardiff played very well and produced a perfect away performance.

Morrison is colossal and a leader which is something we haven’t got.

They also have 4 Premier League players on loan. It makes a difference.

Unchallenged an easy day out for him.

Ask Neil?

Full backs are a massive problem at home. When teams are sitting back and it's crowded in the middle, we need our full backs pushing on, joining the attack and providing some pace and quality.

Rafferty and Hughes just don't offer that.

I disagree. They did generally do what you say full backs should do.

Wehad too many anonymous players today- Maguire, Browne particularly, Sinclair, Pearson and Barkhuizen for example.

The mistimed tackles by Bauer and Hughes turned out though to be the cause of our defeat.

Neil Harris must love coming to deepdale.

He doesnt need to give his team any instructions to beat us anymore.

It's the same blue print every season!

Whilst our Neil figures out for 2 weeks how to strike a missile!

And Nugent must be laughing his balls off sat at home on 10k!

Cardiff deserved the Win AN had no idea what to do today All the confidence from Brentford performace gone
He knows NH tactics but still chose Maguire to play through the middle?
In the end it was just desperation!
I hate playing Cardiff ( unless we are banging in 6 of course)
