JT did that night.

IIRC it was his 100th career goal, too.

Different times.

Better times?

Un-bloody-doubtedly. 😍

It was a great night ……

I absolutely loved that season, my favourite one in my 55 years of watching North End.

I was 26 , healthy and went to a lot of the away games , some great days and nights out.

I’ve actually got the book “ on the brink “ which is all about that 1986/1987 season, reading it brought back some great memories.

Great night, as was the Northampton Friday night game. JT was the latest guest on the PNE podcast. Worth a listen but the main guy is quite annoying. Mellor is ok but knows nothing about PNE pre 2005, the other guy even less.

I’m on that video when JT scored, an utterly marvellous night all round. I suspect most younger supporters wouldn’t entirely understand what a great season that was, after all we only came second in the 4th division!

You have to understand what came before, the re election, the ground being almost condemned after the Safety in Sports Grounds Act, the floodlights being totally condemned, park players playing, players on trial coming and going, crowds of 2,000. I went to virtually every game home and away that season, we packed out away ends everywhere and in some grounds it was dangerously full - Stockport springs to mind on a Monday evening. I loved every second of it.

John McGrath should have a statue.
