Confirmed Paul Heckingbottom new PNE manager.

He might have taken is down, he might not - although I think he would. However, I can say with absolute certainty that he would have continued boring me rigid with his football, his ‘insights’ into football during his interviews and led to me finding alternative uses for match days. I’ve never been so glad to see a manager leave his post as I was Lowe, with my earliest memory of managers being Charlton for context.

Completely agree cha.

Will be interesting to see where he pops up in the future and also what podcasts he goes on and with him its definitely a case of when not if as he wouldn't turn down an opportunity to sell Brand Lowe.

Let’s just hope that the powers that be back him in the transfer market, and don’t let him down.

We can defo see an improvement since Hecky & co came in which I am pleased with still a very long way to go tho RL was backed so lot so hopefully Paul will. Pleased with a clean sheet but still worry about the defence.
Just nice going on Deepdale not dreading the football we play. Fans yesterday said near me was an improvement so it's a little start to go on.

Hopefully. And he’s so likeable. So honest.
I liked his response to the bizarre question put to him by the Sky interviewer after yesterday’s match re Milly’s indiscretion:
Sky: “Is it a matter of reminding players of the right etiquette in these big matches?”
PH: (laughing) “well, we don’t want people biting each other, that’s for sure.”

He would have been in his rights to tear a strip off her for such a stupid question but he managed to control himself and keep it tactful, swiftly moving on to another subject.

The defence looked really sound yesterday. I thought Lindsay was immense and Storey is also playing quite well. It would be nice if they could show some more consistency and perform at that level without the disaster days we've become accustomed to. Perhaps it is partly due to how poor Rovers' attackers were.

It did seem to come at the cost of some attacking output - neither team had a shot for god knows how long, and we rarely threatened until the end of the game, so a balance seemingly still needs to be found.

Bump @SF and @shabbagaz

Lindsay and Storey would be a perfectly competent central defensive pairing in a back four, with a pacey ball-playing full back either side of them.

True, but it wasn't turgid like previously, it was more that things didn't quite come off or the forward pass wasn't played quite in enough time.

Increase your sample size of games before acting the dickhead (if you can).

Hopefully, Heckingbottom can continue to coach them into a competent unit but they've had decent patches of games in the past before reverting to form, with the same people glossing over our GA column because of the odd clean sheet.

Yeah, their previous outing brought us a Lindsay red card and spanking at Oxford.

Think a single clean sheet (and corresponding "PNE nil") is a bit early to be getting the bunting out.

Lowe wasn't really backed that much.

Yes we were all sick of his style in the second part of his reign but ultimately he needed good wing backs to make it work. In two years the only one signed to fit his formation was Alvaro. Ramsey aswell but that move just didn't work out which happens. I highly doubt when he came in he was dreaming of turning Potts into a wing back but needs must.

Upfront he picked up Archer and Cannon and got good form out of them but it would've been good to get that sort of type for a full season.

Was going to mention Millar aswell signing for another championship club for all of 1.5m but seems that was self inflicted with him not wanting to come back to play as a wing back. Very annoying though considering Lowe lasted all of one game this season. Club should've just stepped in and told him he'd play in his preferred position very soon.

Lowe was generally backed in positions where the club already had plenty of options rather than concentrating on the weak areas of the team.

I know Hull have had a crappy start but Millar was 10/10 for them at the weekend. Agreed, such a shame.
